3. TITLES
The Group shall be known as the Teesside Safety Group hereinafter referred to
as “The Group”. The Group shall be non-profit making and its purpose shall be
to promote, maintain and improve standards of health and safety, locally.
OBJECTIVES
a) The objectives of the Group shall be to advance education in all aspects of
health and safety at work and to promote the provision of safe and healthy
working environments within industry.
b) To promote interest in accident prevention and an awareness in the
community of hazards to member organisations within industry.
c) To promote and develop a spirit of co-operation and encourage active and
effective systems of control in respect of Health, Safety and Welfare within
the member organisation.
d) To afford facilities for the dissemination of knowledge including accident
prevention, learning incidents, the study of the appropriate statutory
requirements, codes of practice, guidance notes and proposed legislation
relevant to all member organisation activities.
To promote lectures and discussions and such training and activities that
will further the objectives of the Group.

4. MEMBERSHIP
a) Membership of the Group shall be open to all organisations within the area
covered by the Group on payment of the appropriate fee.
b) The Health and Safety Executive, Occupational Health Groups and Union
Officials may be honorary members.
c) Any individuals or organisations may be elected as a subscribing or
honorary member subject to the discretion of the Executive Committee.
d) Each subscribing organisation shall have ONE nominated representative
who can hold office and vote.
e) Member organisations may send as many representatives as they feel
necessary to each meeting.
f) Notification of meetings will be sent to each member organisation.

5. OFFICERS
a) The Officers of the Group will be:
Chairperson
Vice Chairperson
Secretary
Treasurer
Organising Secretary
Two Executive members
Immediate Past Chairperson
Note: Committee members should be prepared to take on specific or additional
roles, as may be deemed necessary.
b) No time limit will be placed on any office; all will be eligible for re-election.
c) A retiring Chairperson will revert to Immediate Past Chairperson.

6. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
a) The officers listed shall form the Executive Committee and shall be eligible
for election or re-election at the Annual General Meeting, which shall be
held in May of each year providing they or their company are paid up
members.
b) Honorary/Life members may attend meetings of the Executive Committee
as Honorary Advisors.
c) A minimum of five elected officers, one of which shall be the Chairperson
or Vice Chairperson, shall form a quorum at the meeting of the Executive
Committee.
FINANCE
a) An initial joining fee of £20.00 and an annual subscription of £30.00 per
organisation or part thereof have been agreed. The fees will be put
forward for review at each Annual General Meeting.
b) If any members’ subscription is in arrears, the Treasurer shall send to that
member a Notice and if within 30 days from the posting of such Notice the
arrears are not paid, the Committee may remove that name from the
membership. The Executive Committee may at their discretion, restore
membership upon payment of subscriptions.

7. MEETINGS
a) Group meetings and activities will be held on a monthly basis throughout
the year, as agreed by the Executive Committee. Member organisations
will be notified of dates of meetings either by annual calendar or a rolling
programme.
b) The Executive Committee shall meet throughout the year or as and when
required, with a minimum of one meeting per quarter.

8. POLICY STATEMENT
ON THE USE OF THE GROUP NAME AND THE PUBLICATION OF MEMBER ORGANISATIONS
NAMES AND CONTACTS
Formed in 1989, the Teesside Safety Group
is a voluntary/non-profit making association of
member organisations within a wide radius of
Teesside and the North East; promoting
health and safety initiatives, awareness and
aims to raise health and safety standards
within those organisations.
The Teesside Safety Group is a member of
Safety Groups UK and affiliated to RoSPA.
The following is the policy of the Teesside Safety Group (hereafter known as the
“Group”):
1. Business Promotion
1.1 The name of the Group shall NOT be used in any way for business
promotion.
1.2 Any organisation that approaches members of the Group does so without
the direct endorsement of the Group. Such approaches must be on a
business-to-business or person-to-person basis without using the name of
the Group.
1.3 The Group is impartial and will not endorse business initiatives or products
of a sales nature to further financial aspirations/gains. However, the Group
reserves the right to notify its members of health and safety improvements
in equipment, plant, materials, procedures or information to their (the
members) benefit.
1.4 The Group seeks to discourage appointed guest speakers from obvious
advertising.

9. 2. Discounts or Inducements
2.1 Should organisations wish to offer discounts or other inducements to
members of the Group, this shall be offered on a business-to-business
basis without the involvement of the Group.
3. Annual Programme
3.1 The Group may print the following on the Annual Programme:
3.1.1 Names, organisation names and contact addresses and contact
telephone numbers of Officers of the Group.
3.1.2 Names, organisation names and contact addresses and contact
telephone numbers of Committee Members of the Group.
3.1.3 A list of all members of the Group (organisation names only).
3.1.4 A list of Honorary/Life Members of the Group (names only).
3.2 The Group will not release any other details regarding the Group’s
membership other than those printed on the Annual Programme.
4. Contact with Members
4.1 Offices, committee members or members of the Group will not release any
addresses, telephone numbers, fax numbers, electronic mail addresses or
other communicable identity without the consent of that organisation or
person.
4.2 Enquiries specifically requesting contact with a member (or a person
within that organisation) of the Group for them to contact the enquirer
(should they so wish):
4.2.1 Details of the enquirer will be passed to the member (or person
within that organisation) of the Group for them to contact the
enquirer (should they so wish).

10. 5 Health & Safety Initiatives or Campaigns
5.1 The Group will, when and where possible, support local and national
health and safety initiatives or campaigns.
