4. Abstract
The purpose of present project is to analyze the
performance of condenser at 120 MW thermal power
plant and comparison made with the partial loads of 116
MW and 110 MW. It is used as the guidance for the
scheduling maintenance outages on the basis of
performance trades.
Here an attempt is made on various factors like vacuum
systems, circulating water system, that effect on the
actual performance of condenser.
The whole project carried out at 120 MW thermal station
in unit no.7 at KTPS, Paloncha ,Kothaguddem.

11. PERFORMANCE CALCULATIONS
AT LAOD 116 MW:
Main steam flow =348 tons
Main steam Temperature = 537 oC
Main steam Pressure =132kg/cm2
CW inlet temperature =29 oC
CW outlet temperature =39 oC
LP turbine exhaust steam temp. = 48 oC
Condenser Vacuum =0.91 bar
Efficiency of condenser =52.6 %
Vacuum Efficiency = 95.56 %
12. AT LOAD 110 MW
Main steam flow = 335 tons
Main steam temperature =535 oC
Main steam pressure = 125kg/cm2
CW inlet temperature = 34 oC
CW outlet Temperature = 43 oC
LP turbine Exhaust temperature = 52 oC
Condenser Vacuum =0.88 bar
Efficiency of condenser = 50 %
Vacuum Efficiency = 98.2 %
13. Results And Graphs
The various parameters in the performance are noted and
their relations are plotted :
1.Load vs vacuum
2.cooling water vs vacuum
17. CONCLUSION
the parameter like condenser duty, vacuum
efficiency, clean lines factor, cooling water flow,
latent heat and performance of condenser and effect
of vacuum are analyzed.
the efficiency of the condenser is reduced at
reduced loads.
The main problem in condenser functioning is
fouling and corrosion compared to other parameters
like tube leakage and air leakage.
18. Sponge balls cleaning method is the best method for
increasing the condenser efficiency.
vacuum in the condenser effects its performance.
