8. water quality in mine industry
Fresh/raw water
Raw water used in mining industry is the natural water like rainwater,
groundwater and water from bodies like lakes and rivers.
Treated water
Treated water is water that has been made safe for reuse. Raw water
may be chemically polluted during the processing. Therefore, it
needs treatment before reuse. Treated water is very much valuable
for mining industry.

11. Problems arise from using untreated water
In general, water quality criteria for ore flotation are not critical.
Practically any water that is free of acid, mud, or slimes, may be
used.
The water used in the leaching process is similar to flotation water.
11
13. The necessity of desalination
Copper smelters are usually located where better quality water is available
than that used for mining, flotation, or leaching.
Considerable boiler-feed water, preferably of good quality, is needed to
utilize the waste heat that is a byproduct of copper smelting.
Some distilled or zeolite treated water is used for washing cathodes.

23. disadvantages
What issues will follow seawater Consumption?
1. Fish and other marine organisms are killed on the intake screens
2. organisms small enough to pass through, such as plankton, fish
eggs, and larvae, are killed during processing of the salt water
3. the disposal of the highly concentrated salt brine that contains
other chemicals used throughout the process.
4. Energy consumption is very high , so it causes to produce
greenhouse gases.
5. Damage the ecosystem and biodiversity

- The mining industry is highly dependent on water usage. Out of each tone of copper ore extracted almost 99% is regarded as wastes and only 1% includes the valuables. To take out the valuables from those of gangue (invaluable minerals) the ore must be ground to a very fine scale (~ -100 microns), and this process is done in wet conditions requiring more than double in weight water.
Iran is rich in copper and iron mineral ore resources. Major parts of Iran’s mines, such as Iron Ore and Copper Mines, are located in south east of country, especially in Kerman(532) and Yazd(514) Provinces.
These mines comprise processing of mineral ores, producing steel and copper products. Development and utilization of these projects require huge amount of water, and this quantity of water potentially cannot be provided by local resources. Seawater is considered to be a good source of supply.

Raw water used in mining industry is the natural water.
Raw water may be chemically polluted during the processing. Therefore, it needs treatment before reuse.
As you can see, the input to the plant is fresh water and treated water. But, we must use row water as less as possible. but how?
by recycling waste water.
These are the parameters of raw water near the minesite, normally located in arid and semiarid areas.
Also shown for untreated and treated water.
