A dentist is required to:
1. Provide the necessary instruction, training and supervision to ensure health
and safety.
2. Maintain the place of work, including the means of entrance and exit, in a safe
condition (for fire escape)
3. Provide a working environment for employees that is safe
4. Provide and maintain safe equipment
5. Ensure that dangerous or potentially harmful substances are handled and
stored safely

The main purposes of guidance:
• To interpret helping people to understand what the law says
• To help people comply with the law
• To give technical advice

1. Assess the risks.
2. Decide what precautions and measures are needed.
3. Ensure that control measures are used and maintained and safety procedures
followed
4. Prevent or control exposure to the risk.
5. Prepare plans to deal with accidents, incidents and emergencies

7. Ensure employees are properly informed, trained and supervised.
