My Favorite Movie Essay
As 2016 draws to its inevitable close, it's time for me to look back on the (literally) hundreds of
movies I've seen this year and decide which ten were my absolute favorites. A heady task, I know–
but someone who calls himself "The Black Saint" has gotta do it. And since I'm the only person
around here in the depths of Gruesome Manor that answers to that name, I guess that task falls to me.
But before I get to the final ten, I'd like to give shout outs to some films that I enjoyed out of the
horror genre. Films like Deadpool, which took the whole superhero genre and freshened it in a most
ribald, hilarious and unexpected way. Captain America: Civil War is pretty much my favorite
superhero movie so far, I loved its intrigue, action, and flat out incredible battle scenes. Having the
Black Panther and Spider–Man in the mix didn't hurt any either. Marvel films went 3 for 3 this year
with the release of Doctor Strange, which (in IMAX 3D) was the first superhero film to actually
make me feel like I was in another dimension. A real experience to witness in the IMAX format.
Getting back to the horror genre, Green Room was one of the most harrowing films of the year for
sure, with scenes of violence that still make me wince when I think of them. Larry Kent's She Who
Must Burn is more morality tale than horror film, but it's scenes of horror are about as potent as any

One example was the first opera that Mozart did for Joseph. Amadeus wanted to
do the opera in German. This was seen as unmoral cause all opera's were in Italian. Also
Mozart wanted to use a setting of Turkey. This idea was accepted by Joseph. The ideas
that Joseph accepted looked to be the most risky. These idea showed that he was an
enlighten Despot. Another example was when Mozart was plan on doing an opera on The
Marriage of Figaro. This was a very risquГ© opera. Mozart promised that it not going to be

a vulgar opera. Joseph again agreed to this opera, even do his subjects didn't agree. Then
during rehearsals there was ballet in the opera which was against the law to have in the
opera. This law was made by Joseph. Then after seeing the play without it, he wanted it
in because it didn't look right. He basically changed his own law, to the displeased of his

Casablanca The movie, Casablanca, based on the play "Everybody Wants to go to Rick's," still
captivates audiences around the world. This movie was a pleasurable afternoon of great movie
watching. The setting of the movie is Casablanca, Morocco during the Second World War.
Casablanca is the jump off point to get to Spain and then to America. I think that all four factors of a
setting have an affect on this story. The temporal factor, along with the geographic factor, really set

"This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship", "but we'll always have Paris", "go ahead
and shoot, and "you'll be doing me a favor", these are yet another three quotes which stuck in the
minds of audiences everywhere. These quotes help keep the movie and the memories of the actors
and actresses alive, even fifty seven years after the original shooting. Let's not forget the variety of
great music the viewer is treated to while watching this movie. The wonderful sounds are
unforgettable. Even if it may be old, it is still bound to catch the attention of any viewer young or
old. The line–up of sounds not only features the original score by Max Steiner but also other
classics such as "It Had to Be You," and "The very thought of you," and of course,"As Time Goes
By." These songs made the movie more intriguing and helped to keep the movie alive all the way

Damien Chazelle's critically acclaimed American drama film Whiplash (2014), presents a
thought–provoking and confronting depiction of volatile and manipulative relationships, in which
Andrew Niemen, a young ambitious jazz drummer is pushed to the brink of his ability and sanity by
his ruthless teacher, Terence Fletcher. Nieman's passion to achieve perfection quickly spirals into an
obsession. Whiplash proving highly popular with audiences utilizes cinematography to explore the
central themes, the battle between being a good person and being remembered and the effects of a

However, now Neiman's gradual spiral into an obsession for greatness has driven him to breaking
point. The car crash scene is the turning point in Nieman's character. His pursuit of perfection and
greatness has blinded him. At this point Neiman has lost his old self completely, his dialogue is
arrogant and hostile, he no longer cares for his band members or anything apart from greatness.
His gradual change of behaviour is evident through his dialogue 1:03:28 when Nieman is on the
telephone to one of his band members, he starts cursing and using profane language, similarly to
Fletcher. Drumming has become his life, he is no longer concentrated on being a good person
instead he is focused on being remembered, as demonstrated after the car accident, Nieman is
determined to succeed and please Fletcher, thus continuing to play. As he plays every excruciating
beat, his blood drips onto the drum set; representing the pain that he is willing to go to achieve
success. Neiman's madness is stopped by Fletcher's two words: "You're done". Along with lighting
and dialogue, the volatile and manipulative relationship between Fletcher and Nieman is explored
through Chazelles use of cinematography.
Music, editing, and camera angles are used by Chazelle to explore the effects of a volatile and

Every person can relate to being asked the question: "What's your favorite movie?". Most of the
time this is a very tricky question for people to answer, simply because there are so many viable
options to chose from. Strangely enough, if you were to ask a movie director or producer what
their favorite films are, they'd give you a straightforward and honest answer consisting of only one
or a few different titles that come to mind. As strange as it sounds, directors who have grown up or
become accustomed to the Film Industry usually have strong set opinions and perspectives that tend
to reflect in their own projects and exploits, even though they are continually surrounded by all sorts
of inspirations and potential influencers. Contrary to what you might expect, these directors, editors,
producers, and creators tend to remain very set in their ways and adapt their works into forms of
reflectives stemming from their everyday perspective. My own aunt, Devin Adair, has worked in the
film industry for nearly two decades, during which she has spent time in commercial, television,
independent and studio film markets, finally chasing her own dream of creating her own
masterpiece of film. Her, like many before, came into the industry bright–eyed and hopeful, awaiting

Even if one plans on becoming a director and not a screenwriter one needs to know what kind of
scripts to look for. This is very important for a beginning small movie director since the reader will
most likely be writing their own scripts to get some recognition. A script is a document that
outlines every aural, visual, behavioral, and lingual element required to tell a story, according to
the dictionary definition at www.Wikidpedia.org. It is crucial to remember that film is a visual
medium. One doesn't tell the audience the story, one shows them. So what one will be writing is
not a novel but more like explaining a dream on paper. One must learn to write a screenplay

Unsure of trust or higher power, Billy is forced to a state of neglect, beautifully represented with
Loach's brutal simplicity and bland surroundings.
Billy then goes out to his paper round we see that his bike has been taken by Jud. We have
enough information to know that Jud is a bully and that he cares not for any brotherly bond that
they might have. This is further used by Loach to show hate and despair. So Billy now has to run
to the shop. This is a good chance for the director to show the viewer the environment that Billy
lives in; this scene really gives 'a sense of place'. The director has established to the viewer the
importance of the location. We can see now that Simplicity is now used now in every aspect of
the filming, even cinematography. All scenes are broad and general, no closing up to anything,

Carrie stared out the window of the car at the endless plains outside. People always described this
kind of scenery as boring or dull, yet Carrie enjoyed looking at it. She needed the reminder that

My Favorite Movies Essay
Have you ever thought about what kind of movies you have watched and why you have watched
them? Ever since I was a child, I always liked watching movies that had unique and interesting
characteristics in it. My parents told me that when I was a child I never wanted to watch movies
that were long and had boring plot. They tell me that I was very fussy on what movies I wanted to
watch, and that I always watched movies that encouraged or taught kids something good about
behaviour or environment.. Since my parents told me this, I can now very much relate to my
childhood and I think that I have not changed at all. This is because I am still very picky about the

the movies that I think has good acting is Home Alone. In this movie, there is a boy name Kevin
who is left behind at his house while his family goes on a vacation. This movie is all about how
Kevin, an eight year old boy, faces difficulties while he is alone at his house and learns that two
burglars are planning to rob his house. I think this movie is great and entertaining because it shows
how an eight year old kid deals with the robbery that was going to take place in his house all by

In 2013, the horror movie Mama was nominated for several different awards including: Saturn
awards, Young artist award, MTV movie awards, People's choice awards, and the Golden trailer
awards. Out of all the awards listed, Mama won the best horror movie from the Golden Trailer
awards in 2013. Mama is a woman who had lost her life trying to get her daughter back from nuns
in an asylum. Her spiritual ghost had adopted two young girls who were abandoned by their father
in the woods located in Virginia. When the girls were found, and returned tofamily members, the
ghost Mama gets upset and tries to get the girls back in her care any way possible. The movie
Mama portrays a back story of a ghost named Mama who loves children. Therefore, the ghost
demonstrates a message that mothers will do whatever it takes to care for their children. For
example, although the two girls were not biologically Mama's kids, she raised and loved the girls
as if they were her own kin. Another example would be when the girls' biological Uncle Lucas
brought the girls home, Mama followed and continuously tried to take them back. She would harm
and even kill anyone who tried to stop her from taking back her babies. Mama demonstrates how
mothers will always portray unconditional love for their children.

As I was browsing Netflix for a new exciting movie, I came across a new movie for one of my
most favorite actors, Nicolas Cage. As known, Nicolas Cage is famous for being an adaptable
actor in which he appears differently in each role he plays. His wide variety of experiences in
acting has also given an impression to his viewers in which he could be perceived as an
unpredictable actor in each role he plays, and that is one of the reasons why I like him.

Movie Theater Experience
Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it
does not matter if the movie good or bad; I just want to watch them. I loved going to the theaters
as a kid because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing
my mother let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I
have grown I have made an effort to go less often. While the experience is still the same I just
notice just how bad the overall experience can be as well.
Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example
the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound system, the people, and the new releases. It is not
just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you
around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes
a common experience and amplifies it so it feels like you're getting something even greater.
Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of
coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With fast paced action and cliffhanging details
that are thrown in the 2–3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that movie
when it comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have

The title of the movie is really short it's M, which was released in 1931. The director's name is Fritz

the police and all criminals of the underworld come together and hunt down a serial killer named
Beckert. They destroy their barriers of good and evil and untie to help bring justice for Elsie
Beckmann and, others who became the victims of Beckert. Each of the separate groups organized
their own manhunt, to find the murder. When the criminals discovered who the child murder was,
they came up with a plan to follow him and lead him into a empty room, where they were going to
make him pay for killing the young children. The resolution of the conflict is Beckert was finally
found and had to face the consequences for his sins. After so many years of killing innocent
children, the police finally caught the criminal and made him pay for the crimes he committed. As
the judges, were about to pass their judgment on Beckert's trial, the mother of Elsie started saying
"People should take better care of their children". Instead of blaming the Beckert for the death of

Amadeus begins with an attempted suicide by composer Antonio Salieri, who is overcome with
guilt about supposedly killing Mozart. His life is saved by his aids and he is sent to what looks
like a mental hospital, where a priest is sent to council him. The whole story is told through the
eyes of Salieri on his death bed, confessing to his priest. The whole movie takes place in Vienna,
Austria. Besides the first few scenes where Mozart is seen as a child, the story begins in 1782 when
Mozart is the age of 26; the story being told by Salieri takes place around 1825, near his death.
Amadeus is primarily set in the noble class, and doesn't do the best job portraying the poor side of

However Mozart never sees through his deception and thinks of his as a loyal friend and
colleague to the end. Constanze Mozart, played by Elizabeth Berridge, is the wife of Mozart. She
is by far the most sensible in the relationship. Throughout the whole movie she is concerned of
Mozart's frivolous spending and at some points, refusal to do work that really pays. She is also
extremely concerned of Mozart's physical and mental well–being. She is also the only one who can
stand up to Mozart's father for him, calling him lazy and unappreciative. I was much more fond of
the symphony music played by Mozart, although there was not much featured in the movie. I am not
a big fan of Opera's to begin with, so I am a little biased when judging them. I found Don Giovanni
and the Opera written alongside Salieri more preferential; there was more substance and feeling
in those. The opera Figaro to be extremely boring; apparently so did Joseph II. It was extremely
slow with the same dark melody the whole piece. I most enjoyed the first Opera commissioned by
Emperor Joseph II. The whole piece was brilliantly put together, I can't imagine how someone could
put all those notes together and make is sound like it did. It reminds me of listening to Jimi Hendrix
on the guitar, or Bach on the Harpsichord. Mozart was an extremely childish, immature person; yet
one of the most talented musicians of all time.

My Greatest Movies Essay
There are remarkably multiple amazing movies to choose from.If I had to pick 10 of the greatest
films of all time they would include suspense and action. The list of movies that I have picked out
are in my opinion the greatest films of all time. In the cinema, there are hundreds and hundreds of
memorable moments and scenes from many films. The reason behind this is because the ten movies
that I have picked out have compelled me to ''relive'' the moment. Therefore they give me a memory
that I will hold on to.
If a movie changes you mine it's not because of your reasoning it's because of your emotions that
you feel towards the movie. My 10 greatest films must be films that fascinate me and pull me in
quickly. They need to embezzle my attention and keep me entertained at all times.
Therefore my 10 greatest films are:
1) Moana
After seeing this movie multiple times, this movie is by far my favorite film. It's not because it is a
disney film or even a kids movie it's because all the elements in this movie was well executed. The
animation of this film was done beautifully and done with great detail. In the film you can tell how
much time and effort was put in and how the animators took the time to work on each section of
the movie. The soundtrack of moana was beautifully written and composed. Another reason that
moana is my number one movie is because she is not a princess. In the movie she is trained to be
the chief and wants be for her island and her people.In addition to that the characters in the film that
we encounter are very compelling. We watch them change, and grow and react throughout the
movie. Lastly, the story was very strong Moana had conflicts, and goals and knew how to overcome
the conflicts to get to her goals.
2) The Hunger Games
One of the main reasons why I chose The Hunger Games as my second choice is because it is a
very intense and suspenseful movie. In this film what I really liked was that there was love, loss
and explosion. You never knew what was going to happen which I enjoyed because I knew it was
going to be a very superb movie. The actors and actresses in this movie were picked out
marvelously. Each character in this movie played their part as if the Hunger Games existed. The
