3. Motivation Behind Selection of Telecommunication Industry
Telecommunication industry is a good example of oligopoly
market model, Telecom companies have been undergoing
immense of structural changes with the advent of newer
technologies and huge popularity of Mobile phone and mobile
internet services.
4. Mobitel was one of the foremost mobile service providers in Sri Lanka,
Commencing operations in 1993.
Mobitel became a fully-owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom, in 2002
October.
Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd is a National mobile service
provider.
Mobitel is the first mobile operator to launch super 3.5G HSPA
technology in South Asia.
Mobitel has steadily grown into a leader in the field of ICT, taking the
industry towards transforming Sri Lanka into the ‘Wonder of Asia’.

certification for the company’s solid and reliable Information Security
Management System (ISMS) for securing information within the
organization and ensuring safety and reliability to customers.
