 The bird's feathers are rust-colored, however darker shades
are known, including maroon bordering on black.

Rhode Island Reds are noted for their brown eggs. Healthy
hens can lay up to 5–7 eggs per week depending on their
care and treatment.

breeds.

dark red in color

Infectious basal disease (gamboro disease)
 is a highly contaminating disease of young chickens
caused by infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV)
 characterized by immuno suppression and mortality
generally at 3 to 6 weeks of age.

 Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract
of animals caused by coccidian protozoa
 The disease spreads from one bird to another by
contact with infected feces or ingestion of infected
tissue. Diarrhea, which may become bloody in severe
cases, is the primary symptom.

• Village chickens has very little value as layers because they
are poor egg producers.
• There are several village chicken types already identified
but not characterized in detail.
• Naked neck, Giant, Deep brown, Orange tan, Black, Black
with yellow silver, White, Light brown and White brown
varieties are some of those.
