This document proposes installing ATMs and cash deposit machines (CDMs) in a busy souq in Mutthra that sees over 750,000 annual visitors. It notes that installing 2 machines each from multiple banks in a central location would benefit local shop owners by enabling daily deposits, customers by providing withdrawal services, and tourists through currency conversion and withdrawals. The proposal says this shared access to ATMs and CDMs could lower replenishment costs for banks while reducing foot traffic at their branches and creating new revenue opportunities.

17. Mutthra souq is one of the oldest, busiest souq owing to it proximity to the port which as per
government plans of creating a dedicated tourist port in 2015. The souq consists of more the 2000
stores and its owners, local shoppers and tourist, the foot fall in the souq is above 750000 people
per year.
The presence of the banks branches are currently at extreme ends of the souq which are crowded
with footfall and they have no presence of ATM or CDM machines within the souq.
The proposed site is at the very center, at the heart of the souq accessible form both entrances.
This proposed venture would directly benefit the store owners as they would deposit their daily
earning at the end of the day, to the local shoppers a withdrawal opportunity, to the tourists
conversation of international currency and withdrawal will be an assistance, as majority of the
stores do not have POS machines.
This form a banks point of view will be supporting the SMEs, as well as enjoy less deposit and
withdrawal footfall at the bank branches. This site can host upto 10 machines under one roof. The
replenishing cost will lower owing to 2 machine per bank.
A single bank could also use this site to create a cashless transaction branch, wherein new
employees can experience direct customer service. footfall at the main branches will reduce,
revenue can be generated form foreign exchange of the tourists, other ATM card holders usage
fee. As majority of the shop owners dont have a POS machine a system can be implemented to
use and create a revenue for this branch.
Media and PR benefit could include support to His Majesty Vision of the new tourist port, unique
concept to assist the local shoppers and a micro support to the local SMEs.
