Crushing It with Creativity outlines some of the beliefs set forth in the "Creativity Credo" from my book, "Intention: Critical Creativity in the Classroom". It then offers a plethora of ideas for creative thinking in the classroom and beyond
2. Students using creative expression
to demonstrate deeper thinking
and the nuances of understanding content
3. Being creative
can mean many things â
Itâs painting, itâs dance,
writing songs we can sing
Itâs the essence of humanity â
itâs how we survived
Itâs the very best part
of being alive!
4. But, though we are born
creative souls, all
Often we feel
we are hitting a wall.
Ideas fail to come,
the page remains bare
The artist, upon a blank canvas
must stare.
5. Is there a way â
a tip or a trick
To get unstuck
and make things stick?
To ïŹow with that
creative juice
To untie
the internal editorâs noose?
6. All good things
come with practice, itâs true.
But of course, you ïŹrst
must know what to do!
So letâs unpack creativityâŠ
Find out what it is,
essentially.
8. Itâs both consumption
and production â
At times
even destruction.
Itâs novelty,
but remix, tooâŠ
Mash up the old
to make the new.
9. Itâs all about
connecting dots;
Finding relationships
others see not.
It works best with constraints,
perimeters, rules â
Things like time,
resources, tools.
10. Letâs de-silo disciplines,
Be unafraid of big questions,
Train ourselves to notice more,
And craft a clever metaphor!
Â
Play and tinker without fear,
Turn the status quo on ear.
I hope this rhyme did resonateâŠ
Iâll see you thereâŠ
letâs go CREATE!
43. âThe wonderful thing about
writing is that there is always a
blank page waiting.
The terrifying thing about writing
is that there is always a
blank page waitingâ
