discrimination, racism, inequality, and segregation. Because of their skin color, they were labeled as
second–class citizens. They decided to take actions into their own hands and fight against
segregation and attain equal civil liberties. They have faced countless battles, setbacks and
enormous resistance. Activists from all around the country, with all types of backgrounds joined in
on the fight against racial injustice. Their main strategy emphasized passive resistance and
nonviolence. On May 4th, 1961, thirteen brave individuals set out on a mission to start a national
movement to overturn segregation in the south. Under the leadership of Congress of Racial Equality,
seven African Americans and six whites traveled together on two commercial buses, the Greyhound
and the Trailways. They called themselves "The Freedom Riders." They intended to travel from
Washington DC to New Orleans, Louisiana together. On the way, they would deliberately violated

It is important to mention how some of the people that were photographed by Arbus are shown as
characters in the movie. The opening scene is about Diane wanting to photograph people at a nudist
camp, relating to real life photographs that she had taken of nudists. The whole film also makes a
point of acknowledging that Arbus wanted to get to know the subject and familiarise herself with the
people she was going to take a picture of. In the last scene she sits next to a woman who asks her if
she is going to take a picture of her and Diane says, "not yet" then asks, "tell me a secret" which
shows how she takes an interest into who they are as well as what they look like. Shainberg draws
narrative from her real life and uses it many times throughout, especially in the way that he includes
the dwarfs and giants as characters as they are some of the subjects in her photography. Also draws

In the poem "Without Title," the theme is that leaving behind one's former way of life, culture, and

Polley's 2013 Stories We Tell begins directly with Sarah presenting her storytellers, who are all part
of the family. She simply asks her family to tell the story, from the beginning, of her mother Diane.
They each have their own way of disclosing facts about Diane, but it's how each person uniquely
tells the story that is most interesting. Whether filled with pleasure, sorrow and even regret, each
person uniquely describes Diane's life. This reveals that how one is remembered or even currently
portrayed is established through the memories of others, mysteries and all. Through the use of
intimate interviews of her family members, Sarah Polley in Stories We Tell successfully investigates
the reconstruction of her mother's existence, revealing the truth as murky. The memories and stories
families collectively tell are what define the truth. Each person's honesty reveals his or her

The movie Secretariat was released in 2010 and is based on a unbelievable true story. Penny
Chenery inherits the horses from the family farm in Virginia when her mother and father pass away.
As the farm struggles financially, Penny raises the colt that she won in the coin toss with Ogden
Phipps, one of the richest men in America. In all her efforts to save the farm, her colt Secretariat,
won the Triple Crown (Wallace, R). The unforgettable last scene of the most important one in the
film. The focus is on the final race of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes. If the horse were to
lose this race, Penny would lose the family farm. The camera focuses mainly on the horses in this
scene. Its starts focused on the riders in the starting gate. The hush falls over the crown, therefore
emphasizing the dramatic effect. The camera then moves to the track as the horses come out of the
starting gate. A following shot is used as the horses make their way around the track. Every now and
again the camera focuses on the actors in the grandstands to show their nervousness during the
event. Multiple times a hand held shot was used on both the horse and the rider. The film makers
strapped a camera to the under–side of the horse as well as the rider's chest. These shots are nothing
less than unique but since the movement of the horse is so dramatic, it is difficult for the camera to
