I believe the future of elearning will probably involve technologies and platforms that derive from current trends. Here are some possible trends I can think of: 1) MOOCs (massive open online courses) - They are just what they sound like. Massive! Originally, MOOCs emphasized the open access features such as the open licensing of content, structure, and learning goals. 2) mLearing (Mobile Learning) - Online courses are now readily accessible on mobile devices. Not only do mobile devices allow you to learn from anywhere, learning content can even make use of digital compasses, dual cameras, gyroscope, audio, etc to enhance learning experience. 3) Virtual Reality - Learners can now have a somewhat realistic experience. Just check out Microsoft HoloLens and you can imagine what the world will be in time to come. 4) Gamification - eLearning courses will likely resemble video games rather than just traditional lecture. Time to download Candy Crush! I have recently prepared and presented (to a client) a short writeup of 5 simple steps you can follow to effectively convert your existing offline learning content to online ones and would like to share with it here.
