Advaita Vedanta and Science
1. Concepts of Advaita Vedanta
How Modern Science
echoes Vedantic realizations
http://bit.ly/Vedanta-Science
2. Do not believe a thing because you have read about it in
a book.
Do not believe a thing because another man has said it
was true.
Do not believe in words because they are hallowed by
tradition.
Find out the truth for yourself. Reason it out.
That is realization.
-- Swami Vivekananda

Veda)

brahmaiva naparah
Brahman is the only truth, the world is unreal,
and there is no difference between Brahman
and Atman, individual Self.
Adi Shankaracharya (Vivek Chudamani)
6. The ultimate Brahman is devoid of
attributes (Nirguna Brahma).
The entire phenomenal universe is
subject to the categories of space,
time, and causation; but Brahman, the
Supreme Reality, is beyond.
7. Brahman is not subject to causality but independent of the
causal chain.
"That which is not destroyed when the upadhis of time,
space, and causation are destroyed, is Brahman, the
immortal Reality."

16. A multiverse has been envisaged within string theory and
its higher-dimensional extension, M-theory.
The extra 6 or 7 dimensions of these theories may either
be compactified on a very small scale, or our universe may
simply be localized on a dynamical (3+1)-dimensional
object, a D3-brane. This opens up the possibility that there
are other branes which could support other universes.
M-theory
17. Many-worlds implies that all possible alternate histories
and futures are real, each representing an actual "world"
(or "universe")
The theory is also referred to as MWI, the relative state
formulation, the Everett interpretation, the theory of the
universal wavefunction, many-universes interpretation, or
just many-worlds
Many Worlds
18. A black-hole cosmology is a cosmological model in which
the observable universe is the interior of a black hole
existing as one of possibly many universes inside a larger
universe. This includes the theory of white holes, which are
on the opposite side of space-time.
Black-hole cosmology
19. The concept of other universes has been proposed to
explain how our own universe appears to be fine-tuned for
conscious life as we experience it.
Occam's Razor: Critics argue that to postulate an almost
infinite number of unobservable universes, just to explain
our own universe, seems contrary... But proponents argue
that, in terms of Kolmogorov complexity, the proposed
multiverse is simpler than a single idiosyncratic universe.

21. Quantum
Entanglement
“Spooky Action at a Distance”
-- Dr. Albert Einstein
Quantum entanglement is a
physical phenomenon that occurs
when pairs or groups of particles
are generated or interact in ways
such that the quantum state of each
particle cannot be described
independently — instead, a
quantum state must be described
for the system as a whole.
22. Principle of locality
"for an action at one point to have an
influence at another point, something in the
space between the points, such as a field,
must mediate the action"
23. NIST team proves 'spooky action at a distance'
is really real

experiment," NIST's Krister Shalm says

25. “The uncertainty principle, one of
the most famous rules of quantum
physics, operates in macroscopic
objects visible to the naked eye”
“The results of the recent experiment are
novel in that they show both classical
and quantum mechanics operating on
the same scale”
-- Saurya Das, Theoretical physicist
University of Lethbridge in Canada.

Quantum Entanglement
Visible (millimeter size)
Room Temperature
27. University of Geneva (UNIGE) researchers managed to
entangle crystals in 2011, but now they have entangled two
optic fibers, populated by 500 photons.
28. NIST proves: “No faster-than-light
communication”
“The two detectors measured photons from the same pair a
few hundreds of nanoseconds apart, finishing more than 40
nanoseconds before any light-speed communication could
take place between the detectors. Information traveling at the
speed of light would require 617 nanoseconds to travel
between the detectors.”
29. Nonlocality suggests that universe is in fact profoundly
different from our habitual understanding of it, and that
the "separate" parts of the universe are actually
potentially connected in an intimate and immediate
way. In fact, Einstein was so upset by the conclusions
on nonlocality at one point that he declared that the
whole of quantum theory must be wrong, and he never
accepted the idea of nonlocality up till his dying day.

31. Quantum
Entanglement
Can Reach into
the Past
Scientists have entangled particles
in such a way that a future decision
can affect the past states of the
particles.
32.
33. "Whether these two particles are entangled or
separable has been decided after they have been
measured," write the researchers, led by Xiao-song Ma
of the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum
Information at the University of Vienna.
Essentially, the scientists showed that future actions
may influence past events.
34. “The role of the timing and order of quantum
measurements is not just a fundamental question of
quantum mechanics, but also a puzzling one. Any part of
a quantum system that has finished evolving, can be
measured immediately or saved for later, without affecting
the final results, regardless of the continued evolution of
the rest of the system. In addition, the non-locality of
quantum mechanics, as manifested by entanglement,
does not apply only to particles with spatial separation,
but also with temporal separation.”
35. “Here we demonstrate these principles by generating
and fully characterizing an entangled pair of photons
that never coexisted. Using entanglement swapping
between two temporally separated photon pairs we
entangle one photon from the first pair with another
photon from the second pair. The first photon was
detected even before the other was created. The
observed quantum correlations manifest the non-
locality of quantum mechanics in spacetime.”
