2. PURPOSE
• To prevent the environment from being
a reservoir and vehicle for the spread of
microorganisms involved in HAIs and to
guide the handling of contaminated
solid and liquid waste material.
3. DEFINITION
• Health Care Waste are waste that
may or may not cause contamination
or infection if not handled or dispose
properly.
APPLICABILITY
• To all medical , Nursing,
Housekeeping and other
non medical staff.
4. WHAT IS A MEDICAL WASTE?
Medical waste includes all wastes that are
generated from any types of health care
institutions, including
hospitals, clinics, doctor’s, offices and medical
laboratories.

• Infected waste in yellow bag
having biohazard sign.
• Sharp waste in Yellow
