2. Based in Flint, Michigan, Dr. AppaRao Mukkamala
manages a radiology practice and teaches as a
clinical professor of radiology at the Michigan
State University College of Human Medicine. In
addition to maintaining many affiliations with
industry organizations, including the American
Medical Association and Michigan State Medical
Society, Dr. AppaRao Mukkamala helped found
NRI Academy of Sciences.
NRI Academy of Sciences was established by a
group of NRI physicians who recognized the need
for a modern hospital in Vijayawada, an Indian
city of nearly one million residents.
3. The organization strives to produce capable
physicians while also encouraging the discovery of
new medical knowledge. To this end, the academy
currently manages four divisions: the general
hospital, the specialists centers, the medical college,
and the nursing college.
The general hospital is of special value to the
community since it offers affordable health care, with
modern equipment and facilities, to civilians on a
nonprofit basis. The hospital provides general
services and medical treatment as well as several
specialties, including psychiatry, pediatrics, and an
artificial limb center. For more information, visit
