4. Asia Pacific dominates the World
Asia Pacific keeps being the hottest region in terms of sales growth. This accounts for the surge in “cost-effective Android phone” which have been a recent trend of Asian smartphone users.

5. Samsung and Apple losing ground
Samsung and Apple’s market share slightly drops compared to last quarter due to market share gained from smaller players.
However they are still the dominant forces.

6. Google Play widening the gap in app downloads
Google Play keeps widening the gap between 2 stores in terms of app downloads.
Q3/2014, Google Play saw 60% more downloads from App Store. The number was just 25% in the equivalent quarter last year.

App Store does better in app revenue
As the gap is growing in app downloads, the revenue gap between GP and App Store continues to shrink.
Q3/2014, App Store’s app revenue was 60% higher than Google Play’s. Same quarter last year, App Store was 2.1X higher.

Only 1% of iOS user goes for iOS 8
iOS 8 was out since early September 2014, but witnessed a very low rate of adoption in Vietnam. Until end of Q3, only around 1% of iOS user upgraded to iOS 8. This is due to the low penetration of new iDevicesand user’s preference in jailbrokenOS.
