Corporate travellers know that the best way to stay stress-free on the move is to leave their travel arrangements in expert hands – but there are also plenty of tricks to keep the body healthy while travelling, to arrive in top form.
2. Business travellers
need to be on the
top of their
game from the
moment they
step off the
plane, no
matter how
frequently
they fly.
3. So, to make sure you give your body the
support it needs to keep fighting fit,
here’s our guide to staying healthy
while you’re on the move
4. 1. Prepare for
your flight
While you’re packing for your journey,
keep these tips in mind...
5. • Travel in comfortable clothes
and buy an inflatable
headrest to help you
sleep. If you need to be in
business attire when you
land, pack these clothes
in your carry-on luggage.
• Source special ear-plugs for
air travel which will reduce
noise and help you regulate the air
pressure changes as you come in to land. Compression
stockings are another good purchase to help
circulation.
6. • Use contact lenses? Pack glasses for the journey or a
small amount of contact lens fluid in your carry-on to
help prevent dry eyes in low humidity cabins.
• Before you fly, boost your immune system with
vitamin-C or Echinacea, eat well and get plenty of
rest. Low-dose aspirin or herbs like gingko can help
with circulation, but should be used only with the
advice of a medical professional.
• If you have a blocked nose or sinus, before flying take
a decongestant or antihistamine to avoid ear pain
during pressure changes.
7. At the airport
As well as being the perfect place to
pick up last-minute supplies to keep
you comfortable on-board, there are a
number of ways in which you can
support your health in the airport...
2.
8. • Pack hand sanitiser and
disinfectant wipes to use
whenever you’re in
public bathrooms,
kiosks or other high
use places.
• If you see anyone looking
ill or coughing and
sneezing, keep your distance.
• Once you’re through security, buy a bottle of water to
stay hydrated.

9. In the air
If you’re well prepared, the flight
will be more enjoyable – but keep
the following tips in mind...
3.
10. • Don’t overdo it with
alcohol – it can lead
to dehydration,
headaches and
dizziness.
• If you fancy a drink
while flying, have a
glass of water with
your favourite tipple.
11. • Avoid the germs spread around an aircraft from
coughs and sneezes by directing the overhead
air vent downwards over your face and by using a
nasal spray to maintain mucous membranes.
• Remain active while you’re in the air – especially on
long flights. Get up for a walk and do simple exercises
(bending legs, feet and toes and stretching your calf
muscles).
• Store bags overhead to leave as much leg room as
possible for better circulation.
12. There’s nothing worse than an ear-ache
from pressure changes as the plane
comes in to land. To avoid this
discomfort you can...

13. • Use pressure-regulating
ear-plugs.
• Yawn, swallow or
suck a boiled sweet
to help equalise the
pressure.
• Avoid sleeping during
descent.
• If the above fail to help, pinch the nostrils and take a
mouthful of air. Close your mouth and act as if you are
gently blowing your nose to force equalisation.
