2. Cumulative or Coordinate Adjectives
ď‚—Cumulative Adjectives
ď‚—Always go before nouns.
ď‚—They must be in specific
order.
ď‚—No comma between them
ď‚—Coordinate Adjectives
ď‚—Can go before nouns or
after linking verbs.
ď‚—They can be in any order.
ď‚—Use commas and the
word and with them
3. The cumulative adjectives should be in the
following order
ď‚—(Articles, demonstratives, pronouns, possessive)
ď‚—Quantity (two, many)
ď‚—Opinion (beautiful, expensive)
ď‚—Appearance (size, shape or length)(big, round, short)
ď‚—Age, color (old, red)
ď‚—Nationality, religion (French, Muslim)
ď‚—Material, purpose (silk, skiing)
ď‚—Noun as adjectives (shoe)
4. Coordinate Adjectives
ď‚—Separate coordinate adjectives with commas and
write them in any order.
ď‚—It was rainy, stormy, cold day.
ď‚—It was stormy, cold , and rainy day
ď‚—You MUST put and if the adjectives follow a linking
verb.
ď‚—The weather was cold, rainy, and stormy.
