3. 2013 – Let His Light
Shine
Artists’ Statement
For ages, artists have used light as a
symbol for knowledge and truth.
Advanced Studio Art students continued
this age-old tradition by creating an
installation of back-lit artwork. Inspired by
traditional and modern stained glass as
well as the work of contemporary artists,
student artists have visually interpreted the
symbology of light in transparent paintings
executed on plexiglass. Students explored
biblical themes of light as a metaphor for
God's truth and revelation and of God's
grace in opening our eyes to see His light.
Each artwork represents the artist's
interpretation of this year's Gala theme,
"Let His Light Shine."
7. Artists' Statement:
Worship is more than just song - it
is an expression of love for our
God as we respond to the
knowledge that His love endures.
Advanced Studio Art students
created sculptural artworks as
expressions of worship. Inspired
by various forms of worship,
student artists have visually
represented their relationship with
God through a variety of media
and images. Students explored
themes of light and color as
metaphors for God's presence in
our lives as His love works in and
through us. Each artwork
represents the artist's response to
this year's Gala theme, "His Love
Endures."
