Leanne Holland Case
Leanne Sarah Holland born 1st October 1978 was a 12–year–old girl from Goodna, Queensland, found murdered. Her body was discovered on
Thursday, 26th September 1991 at 1.42 pm down a dirt track. The track was 8.9 kilometres from her Goodna home in nearby Redbank Plains.
Holland lived with her dad Terry, older sister Melissa and sisters de–facto partner Graham.Graham Stuart Stafford was a 28 year old sheet metal worker
from Goodna, Queensland. On 25th March 1992, he was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the murder of Leanne Holland. On Monday,

d) The hair strand that matched Leanne Holland was unfound by the officer collecting evidence at the scene. The piece of hair that was on the

Education Standards: Common Core
Lately, there has been much argument over the implementation of the Common Core. The Common Core was a creation of the government to enhance
America's education system through the modification of the current education standards. It forces students to think more critically and have a deeper
understanding of the material that they are learning. The Common Core should not be instigated because it compels teachers and students to change
their learning and teaching methods which could have a major influence on their education. There are countless pros and cons to the Common Core.
The following paragraphs will outline both sides. The Common Core allows students to be enhanced thinkers by sanctioning them to critically evaluate
and make conclusions rather than memorizing the meaning of literary terms and characters (Cameron, A19). This enhances students' skills and permits
them to participate in a more active learning role. The Common Core demands more from students, in which students have to live up to those
standards. With the Common Core, teachers have to "ensure that every child is thinking, participating, inquiring, and working with others ... and
discovering" (Cameron, A19). Under the Common Core, students nationwide will gain the same knowledge and skills as others required for future
jobs. In order for the Common Core to unify the standards, the requirement for standardized testing nationwide is absolutely necessary (Meador, Pros
and Cons). Thus, allowing states to compare

Group Participation and Interaction Explored in 12 Angry Men
Stop for a moment and think how many times have you said "I'll kill you" to a person and actually killed that person? Two times? Three times? We
all know that the answer is never unless of course you're actually a killer. This is what might or might not have happened with the boy who was
accused of killing his father in the movie 12 Angry Men. Firstly, let's consider on the title of the movie itself which says "12 Angry Men." Twelve is
indicating the number of group members, angry is indicating the state of their temper, and men indicating their gender. So the title of the movie
strongly connects to the name of the class "Group Communication Studies" because both involve a group, a goal and communication among the group
members in order... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking other juror's characters into consideration, Jury number 2 and Jury number 12 are a complete contrast to Jury number 8. They both are hesitant in
taking their stance. Especially Jury number 12 repeatedly changes his decision depending on what the aggressive members were wanting him to say.
Jury number 3 was the most aggressive of all the 12 men. There was something not–so–appealing–yet–very–interesting about his personality. He was so
single–minded that he not only disagreed to what others said, but was also willing to ask them to shut up and just say "guilty." His aggressive
behavior gives us a reason to think that he might have a bad relation with his son, which he actually had and reveals the story at the end. Jury
number 7 has a completely different approach. He wants the discussions to end soon because he has got more important things to do in his life
rather than having a look at the evidence's that could help to save someone's life. According to Benne and Sheats Functional Group Goals, Jury
number 7 is an example of a deserter. Deserter is a person who withdraws from the group; appears "above it all" and bored or annoyed with the
discussion; remains aloof or stops contributing ( Engleberg and Wynn 55). A deserter can also be called a self centered person. Jury number 8 seems
an initiator–contributor, who proposes ideas and suggestions; provides direction for the group; gets the group

A Search for Hope
Famous English poet and playwright William Shakespeare uses "hope" in King Richard III as "True hope is swift, and flies with swallow's wings:
Kings it makes gods, and meaner creatures kings" (Shakespeare). Shakespeare likens "hope" to wings that elevate people during its existence, a
power which strengthens people. During my research different sources, from academic writings to visual sources, discussed how the result of an aim
is affected by "hope". The results that I gained from my research have shown that people can't achieve their dreams in the lack of hope. Hope is the
irreplaceable element of success.
The dictionary gives a basic meaning of hope, but the explanation of the word is deficient. The Oxford dictionary, an online dictionary which is
created by The Oxford University, defines hope as "to want something to happen and think that is possible"(Hope). The denotation by The Oxford
dictionary vitiates the true meaning of the word "hope". "To want something to happen" (Hope) can be the explanation of require/desire, however,
simplifying hope like that would be ignoring the effects of hope which are beyond desiring. After the requirement, having hope for the aim would help
in the process of achieving. Defining second part of hope as "to think something is possible" (Hope) would be insufficient because hope can make
people believe and attach themselves to their aim even though in the situations which are called impossible. With this belief, hope can make people

declination in sales. (Appendix K) The problem can be shown by two aspects. Firstly, the company reacted to the tax increase by continuing the
existing price policy, which implies that they did not know what the customers need. Secondly, its competitors reacted by taking aggressive advertising
campaign in advance, however, it responded slowly.
In conclusion, the company adopted the market niche strategy in order to target the specific group of customers. However, the sense of crisis and the

Examples Of Lexical Cohesion
This paper tackles how cohesion can be effective to make the text more united. Both cohesive devices; lexical and grammatical, have a powerful role in
giving the text texture. Lexical devices are repetition, antonyms, synonyms, and general words. On the other hand, grammatical devices are reference,
conjunction, and ellipsis. Both of them provide the text harmony and meaning.
Lexical Cohesion Lexical cohesion occurs when two words are semantically related to each other such as, repetition, synonyms, antonyms, general
words, and superordinate. Firstly, repetition occurs when one word is mentioned more than one time throughout the text. To illustrate, the word "and"
is repeated about 22 times in the text , the word "her" is repeated around 15 times in paragraphs number 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13, the morpheme
"mother" is repeated 5 times in paragraphs number 1, 8, and 14, the pronoun " I" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, conjunctions link between clauses and sentences. They signal the way the writer wants the reader to relate the sentence to what have been
said or what is going to be said throughout the text. Conjunctions have many types such as, additive, causal, adversative, and temporal. Additive
conjunctions, "also" in paragraph number 6, "or" in paragraph number 3, "and" in paragraphs number 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, are used when the
writer wants to add more information to his idea. Causal conjunctions like, "in order to" in paragraph number 7, "so" in paragraph number 8, 9, and
14, and "because" in paragraph number 14, are used to tell a reason or a result. Adversative conjunctions like, "but" in paragraph 8, and "although" in
paragraph number 11, are used to confirm opposite ideas.
Temporal conjunction like, "since" in paragraph number 9, is used to confirm

Gender Roles in Japan Essay
It is no secret that for centuries, the Japanese woman has been, to most observers, a model of elegance and graceful beauty. A picture of a
kimono–clad, modest, and often silent woman has been plastered everywhere, allowing for the upmost passive subjection. If we look deeper into this
image of woman, can we tell if this picture is complete? How do these women painted in representative images far in the modern world? The ideal
woman in Japan is expected to be both a good wife, and a wise mother. Though these seem like reasonable expectations, there is a much deeper
meaning to them that has shown signs of being outdated. During the 1800's and 1900's, women were subjected to society's vision of them, and could
not break free for fear of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"She is intelligent, modest, unselfish, and always thoughtful of the other members of the family. She is particular about her manner and impresses
everybody she meets with her graceful dignity...She rises earlier and retires later than anybody else in the family. She has never allowed herself to
enjoy a lazy Sunday morning in bed, and the sickbed is the only place for her to rest...Endurance and repression are her greatest ideals. She says to
me, 'Endurance a woman should cultivate more than anything else. If you endure well in any circumstance, you will achieve happiness." This quote
is representative of the popular stereotype of Japanese women. It defines how they worked hard at home to please the men, and did whatever was
expected of them without complaint. A key word in this quote is endurance. It is stated that a woman who endures well in any circumstance will
achieve happiness, and what is said is true.
History reports that though there were many women in leadership positions (Queens, empresses, etc.), they appeared to be second–class citizens. It
seemed as though the only relationship they were prompted to have was with their husbands. However, they endured. They came to the realization that
if this is how life would be, this is the life they would have to get used to. Due to multiple different influences, there are many inconsistencies when it
comes to the role of women in ancient Japan.

Ring Contraction Of A Ring
RING CONTRACTION
All the carbons of a ring are equivalent (a ring has no ends like an open–chain compound does),1 ring compounds can be classified as either
monocyclic or polycyclic compounds.
As the word "contraction" means shrinking, ring contraction can be defined as the process of shrinking larger ring compounds which are less strained
into a more strained smaller ring structures. Instead of making small strained ring by chemical reaction which is very strenuous to do, ring contraction
is a process of easing the stress of forming smaller strained ring on their own.
A ring contraction reaction is a type of organic reaction in which usually a hydrocarbon ring is reduced in size.2 Ring contraction reactions are an
important method to increase molecular complexity in a single step, because, in many cases, the reorganization of the bonds occurs with a high level of
selectivity, affording products not easily accessible by other synthetic approaches.2. and 3.
The smallest ring compound possible is cyclopropane, this is so because we need at least three carbon atoms to form a ring structure. Cyclopropane is
the most strained ring compound due to the fact that its carbon atoms are sp3 hybridized, sp3 carbon have an angle of 1090, but the carbon atoms in
cyclopropane are strained in an angle of 600. Scheme 1: Mechanism of a typical ring contraction
METHODS FOR RING CONTRACTION
Ring contraction occurs through rearrangement of carbon atoms to form a smaller ring structure. Two

Summary: Maclaine Parker Vs. Bloomer Girl
2) Facts On August 6, 1965 Shirley MacLaine Parker entered a contract with Twentieth Century Fox film corporation to play the main female role
in a Los Angeles musical called "Bloomer Girl." In the contract the defendant would pay the plaintiff $53,571.42 a week for fourteen weeks
starting on May, 23 1966, for a total of 750,000. On April 4, 1966 Parker received a letter from Fox stating that they canceled the production of
Bloomer girl but to avoid any damages for not complying to their obligations under their written contract they offered her the leading role in a film
called Big Country. Fox gave her a week to respond to the request but failed too and the offer expired. Later Parker sued Fox to recover the agreed
guaranteed compensation for "Bloomer Girl" and the defendant's breach of contract. 3) Issue Was the job that Fox offered Parker in Big Country
comparable employment and was Parker obligated to accept to mitigate damages? 4) Decisions The judge ruled in favor of the plaintiff. Stating that

Playing in a musical can be much more demanding and tiring, due to the work of a dancer and singer being far more strenuous. Memorizing and
perfecting your lyrics, lines, and choreography is not always easy. When filming a musical scene that includes singing or dancing, the scene must
be completely reshot as to not disrupt the fluency. In dramas, it is easy to reshoot a simple line or action, as it can be easily edited to not disrupt
the fluency. It is harder to redo a complete song vs reshooting a sentence or phrase for both the actors and the crew. Things like this puts musicals on
a much higher level than a drama. So to compensate the same actress by offering her a part in a drama while dropping the musical does not only
demean her skills as an actress, but it is a complete breach of the clear contract she was

Rockstar Logos
"Rockstar" is a song by Post Malone released in 2017. The song is about how rappers the current generation of rock stars because of their growing
popularity. The song consists of famous rock star moments in history to show how similar they are to what is happening to rappers currently. I think
the purpose of the song is mostly for entertainment, however I think that there is a hidden message about how he is starting to go down the road of
being a rock star. It is not entirely pleasant however, because it can be full of drugs and death for certain individuals. The song Rockstar by Post

This is logos because it uses historic events. People are persuaded by this because of the idea that history repeats itself. People are more open to
something when they know that is has happened before, so by using history, he can get people to take him seriously.
It uses ethos because the song mentions famous rock star who the listeners could identify with if they were fans of them. The line "Rest in peace
to Bon Scott" is a tribute to the lead singer of ACDC who died of alcohol poisoning. "She ask me light a fire like I'm Morrison" is about Jim Morrison,
who was in the band The Doors, who's most popular song was Light a Fire. It even brings up a book called "I'm With the Band" by $#$#2$#$#. Which
is about the life of a rock band groupie.
It uses pathos in one of the songs advertising schemes. Hs recording company, Republic Records, posted a YouTube video of a 3
–minute–long loop of
the chorus instead of the actual song. Since the chorus was catchy, it leads people to keep listening and look up the actual song. It used the emotion
of a catchy beat to get people curious about the song, kind of like a trailer for a movie. This combined with the media coverage it received because of
it created a lot of views. This lead it to debut at number 2 and eventually reach number 1 extremely

point. While there are various models out there many claiming greater stealth or high speed capacity, we recommend what has worked well in the
past, a saucer shaped craft. While this may seem a bit clichГ© and somewhat impractical given the laws of aerodynamics, the fact is, if you are
spotted and reported, odds are you will be dismissed as a hoax or wild imagining and therefore, avoiding a visit from those pesky supersonic craft and
their tracking missiles
Rule number 4: Know your no fly zones. Again this is crucial in your survival. As a general rule avoid major cities and high population areas as it
is far easier for your activities to be noticed. Also, as a general rule try to avoid areas designated for military purposes or are experiencing conflict
by one nation against another, as those are sure to bring the supersonic air craft and their missiles. In fact, what we recommend is to take you conduct
your research in remote places, areas which do not have a high population and any type of formal air patrols. This will decrease your likelihood of being

Integrity of the Game: Life Lessons through Sports
When I was four I started playing softball; when I was nine I started playing tennis: and when I was fourteen I started playing volleyball. Up until
now I thought these were just ways of my parents getting rid of me for a couple hours a day. Up until now I did not realize that I learned anything
more from playing these sports than hitting a homerun, serving a kick serve, or being able to set a ball 20 feet away. Now, I realize that all these
sports have taught me some key life lessons. These sports have taught me that mistakes are great, to handle stress, and how to increase positive energy
even when things are not going well. They have given me a lifetime of friends, leadership skills and more confidence in what I do. In short, playing a
sport has endless benefits.
One of the more obvious benefits is better health. This would not be temporary health benefits but life long. It is sad to hear that in the United States
alone there has been a growth in childhood obesity. 33% of children and adolescents are obese. By participating in a sport, it helps regulates the
calories that are being burned, and it helps one maintain a healthy weight. The Report from the United Nations Inter–Agency Task Force on Sport for
Development and Peace states that children and teens, upon playing a sport, increase the development of healthy bones, efficient heart and lung
function, and improved motor skills and cognitive function. All skills that are utilized in everyday life. With that, this leads

also showed that the blood was type B and it was either Anna's or Alex's. The fingerprint was in fact Anna's as well. There was no sign of a break in

H-Index: The Weaknesses Of The H-Index
H– INDEX
A LITTLE ABOUT H–INDEX:
In 2005 there was a term presented "h–index" for approximating the position, which means and wide impact of scientists' expanding commitments." It
takes into clarification of together the quantity of a individuals' books, magazines and diaries and so forth (i.e. publications) and their effect on
nobilities, as determined by reference aggregates. Jorge Hirsch, the maker of $#$#1$#$# pronounces that a "fruitful researcher" ought to have a h–index
record of 20 following 20 years and a "remarkable researcher" ought to have a list of 40 following 20 years; and a "genuinely extraordinary individual"

Commentators of the metric propose it is constrained in the accompanying ways:
It checks an exceedingly referred to paper paying little respect to why it's being referenced–e.g., for negative reasons
It doesn't represent varieties in normal number of productions and references in different fields (some generally distribute and refer to short of what
others)
It disregards the number and position of creators on a paper
It limits creators by the aggregate number of distributions, so shorter professions are off guard
It has generally low determination in that numerous researchers wind up in the same extent since it gets progressively hard to expand the h–file the
higher it gets (a h–list of 100 relates to at least 10,000 references)
It, similar to all measurements, depends on information from the past and may not be a legitimate indicator of future execution. Nonetheless, in a
subsequent production Jorge Hirsch showed that the h–record is superior to anything different pointers (absolute papers, all out references, references

Krispy Kreme also rolled into the price the costs of closing stores and compensating the operating manager and principal owner of the Michigan
franchise to stay on as a consultant. Both of these expenses became part of the intangible reacquired franchise rights asset on the company 's balance
sheet, rather than costs that would have reduced the company 's reported earnings. Krispy Kreme announced in a December 2004 8–K filing that it will
need to make an adjustment of between $3.4 million and $4.8 million to properly record the compensation as an expense. A second adjustment of some
$500,000 will reverse the improper recording of interest income.
In its December 2004 8–K, Krispy Kreme revealed that there would need to be adjustments made to the accounting for the Golden Gate Doughnuts
purchase as well a total of $3.5 million to correct improperly recorded compensation expenses and management fees that had been included in the
purchase price. The company will also make a similar correction to fix errors made in the acquisition of a franchise in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The Controversy Over New Airport Security Measures Essay
The country's recently heightened airport security measures
have become a source of controversy and debate across the
Nation. Due to a recent attempted act of terrorism, where a man
on an international flight to Detroit attempted to blow up the
plane using a bomb, the department of homeland security has taken
new measures to ensure national security in the form of new high–
tech full–body scans and pat down procedures in airports. The new
body scanning machines create images of people without their
clothing, and the new pat down procedure is generally considered
too personal. Many people feel that the new airport security

terrorists will just change their methods to fit the new security
system. Bruce Schneier, a security expert, told The New York

of them, I'm not making you safer. If we use full–body scanning,
they're going to do something else" (Schwartz, The New York

On the other side of the argument, the TSA (Transportation
Security Administration)is more concerned with safety and
security, than with individual rights. They argue that "adopting
a full body pat down procedure helps detect hidden and dangerous
items, including explosives" (CBS New York). Full–body scanners
are able to detect non–metallic items as well as metallic items,
whereas metal detectors can obviously only detect metal items.
They help to make terrorist attacks more difficult. Former

4.Number rainbows
a.I will be working with student on their targeted number for this student. We made a number line starting at zero and then counting up to their practice
number. I then started by stating that we were going to create a rainbow. I asked the student if they could find two number in the number line that could
equal their practice number. Usually, they states their practice number and zero and if you add them together you getthe practice number. Then I
encouraged the student to look for another pair of number that would equal the practice number. I will prompt thee student to keep looking for pair of
number until they have found all the pair then I ask them to draw a line connecting the two numbers in the pair. After the student had created the
rainbow I will have them color the rainbow. After they have colored it I had the student write number sentences using the number pairs to equal the
practice number. After they have written the student has finished creating the number sentences I reviewed the sentences with the student.
5.Snap it

then prompted the student to place the unfix cubes behind their back. I then modeled how they would snap the stack in half. Then I showed the student
then when I pulled out the stack in was broken in two. I had the student practiced just snapping the stack a few times.

Simplicity By William Zinsser
William Zinsser is an American writer who wrote an informational guide to writing. He made a decision to revise a specific chapter called
Simplicity. In the year 1980, the first version of Simplicity was created, then came 1998 followed up by 2006. In the first version, 1980, Zinsser
created a long and wordy paper. He used specific examples but included details that were unnecessary. This is ironic because the paper is about how
writers can write unnecessary words and phrases creating complicated sentences. He was not inclusive of gender, naming men as writers and only
using wives as examples of distraction. This draft had a complete count of 20 paragraphs. The 1998 version had few changes when compared to the
1980's version. There... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Paragraph 2–2006) He changed viscous language to clotted language. This makes sense, he used a more commonly used word to this time period
making it readable to a younger generation of readers and writers. (Paragraph 2–2006) He took out "–on Christmas Eve or any other eve–," this made
sense because it was an extra unneeded detail. The sentence made complete sense just as "what father or mother can put together a child's toy from
the instructions on the box?". In paragraph 4 he changed what was originally "the president of a major university" in versions from 1980 and 98 to
"the president of my university" in the 2006 version, making a personal connection with the reader. (Paragraph 8– 2006) He completely redid the
paragraph. In the 1980 and 1994 version, the 8th paragraph was completely unneeded and included a story that seemed unrelated to the topic of writing.
It started as "I love to be alone". The 2006 version of this paragraph wasn't completely off topic from the original. I still believe this paragraph isn't
needed, even with the shortening. With the 2006 version he has taken out the "he's" and switched to "they". This allows women to feel included,
making it more likely for a female to enjoy the writing. It felt noninclusive in the first two versions. In the newest version (paragraph 10) he included
devices relevant to that time period. Instead of saying "he," he said a man or woman could be distracted by many forces

The objective is to determine the most cost effective method to decrease the project's deadline. The project plan discussed below has been generated
through the use of a projectplanning scheduling technique, Critical Path Methodology, to secure the scientific approach. The program schedule
provides a quantitative basis to make managerial decisions to shorten the implementation time of the overall project.
2. Assumptions and Approximations
The mathematical model created to schedule all the projects is based upon a number of simplifying assumptions and approximations. These need to be
taken into account in order to make an independent judgment about the model's usefulness.
The assumptions and approximations of this model are:
п‚·
The product introduction program has been broken down into three groups of activities: Research & Development, Marketing & Advertising, and
Promotion;
п‚·
The description of each activity and the indicated time required for its completion in weeks was taken at face value from the case;
п‚·
The tasks to be performed by each department and the estimated durations and deadlines were also considered as given;
п‚·
The preceding activities for each activity are considered as such;
п‚·
The tasks that could potentially be "crashed" by increasing resources were decisions based on the information available in the case.

The Probability Of Picking A Starfish
Instruct
Many students get confused when learning about fractions. At our grade level we teach about parts of a whole, equal shares, and partitioning.
1. Starfish, shark, whale and dolphin probability:
The probability of picking a starfish will equal the number of starfish (3) divided by the total number (10). Therefore, the probability of the student
picking a starfish is 3/10.
The probability of picking a shark will be 3 sharks out of 10. This equals 3/10
The probability of whales will be 3/10 and the probability of dolphins will be 1/10.
2. How are the probabilities affected if each student replaces his or her sea animal after picking it?
When a student replaces their sea animal, nothing will change. On the first pull, the probability of getting a starfish is 3/10, because there are 10 sea
animals and 3 of them are starfish. If that starfish is replaced (put back in the fishpond), the probability for the second pull is still 3/10, and that means
the events are independent. The result of one trial does not affect the result of another. Probabilities remain the same.
3. Select one of the sea animals. Give an example of how the probabilities are changed if that sea animal is replaced or not replaced after a student
picks it out of the fishpond.
Suppose a student picks out a sea animal at random from the fish pond, then replaces it and a second animal is chosen. If replaced, the probability of
choosing a starfish and then a dolphin is; P(Starfish)= 3/10 P(dolphin)=

Slavery was the main cause of the breakup of the Union and influenced other factors, such as territorial expansion, industrialization and economic
tensions, and political alignments. Combined, all of these conflicts, with slavery at the root, led to the conflicts in the nation that started the Civil War.
The issue of slavery caused conflict regarding new territories, economic stratification, and political turmoil. All of these tensions served to divide the
nation, North against South, to start the Civil War.
Slavery, in itself, was the most predominant reason for the breakup of the Union. It fundamentally divided the Free northern states and the Slave
southern states, causing immediate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, in Document C, that "the United States will conquer Mexico, but it will be as the man swallows the arsenic." This
statement points out a key similarity between this war and the Civil War– both were tainted by slavery. The Mexican War would result in new slave
states, making abolitionists angry, resulting in the conflicts that started the Civil War. Document D, written by David Wilmot of the Wilmot Proviso,
reveals the tensions created by the Mexican cession, saying, "I ask not that slavery be abolished, I demand that this government preserve the integrity
of free territory against the aggressions of slavery–against its wrongful usurpations." Up until that point, there were an equal number of slave and free
states. How would the balance be maintained? Wilmot suggested that slavery remain only in the current slave states and not spread to any new
territories. However, his plan was rejected, showing that neither side would compromise, but, instead, that the Union would break apart. Therefore, the
Compromise of 1850 was passed as a way to appease the north and the south. Document E shows the distinct separation of slave and free states
resultant of this compromise. This reveals a major breakup of the Union over slavery. Document F points out the Kansas–Nebraska Act of 1854, created
by Stephen Douglas, which divided the newly gained Nebraska Territory into two states, Kansas and Nebraska, and

What is Corruption?
Corruption can mean so many things and can be interpreted in countless ways but in the most simplistic way of explaining what it is, it is the misuse
of judgment, the struggle between what is right and what is wrong. No one really knows what led to corruption, but some say it was religious reasons
that led to this malfeasance, meaning the devil, while others believe different. People in today's society tend to relate this topic to politics because it is
most commonly occurs within that faction of society. Corruption is a reoccurring theme throughout The Crucible, it shows through the political,
McCarthyism, religious and personal reasons of the Colonial Era. The Crucible takes place in the early England colonies in Salem, Massachusetts
during what we know as the witch trials. It is based on a group of girls involved in "witch like" activities, who begin to accuse others of committing
witchcraft just so that they do not get into trouble. One girl controls the group, Abigail Williams, and she plots againstElizabeth Proctor who is married

We are starting to see the impact of the 'buy

This admission made him think about all the elements that contributed to the growth within the company and the success of Renaissance's agreement
with the Australian company.
Background
Renaissance Corporation Limited
Renaissance has been a publicly listed company in New
Zealand since 1968. Though the company has existed in many forms, its current name was adopted in 1997, at which time key business concentrations
were also developed. It functions along three key business streams:
(1) distribution, (2) education, and (3) e–business. The company has built a successful information technology distribution business with a number of
leading international brands.
Renaissance has, in the past, had exclusive distribution rights for Apple computer products in New Zealand. However, the global policy of the
computer manufacturer now prohibits exclusive deals.
Though exclusivity is no longer possible, Renaissance is still the sole wholesale distributor for Apple locally.
The manufacturer has not moved to cultivate relationships with other New Zealand distributors and has expressed no intention to do so in the future,
in spite of the fact that it has done so elsewhere in the world. Sole distributorship of
Apple products provides Renaissance with a degree of credibility in the market.
Renaissance achieves economies of scale through the distribution of multiple brands. The company

The Media's Negative Affect on Women Essay
The Media's Negative Affect on Women Our society's media portrays women in a very distorted and twisted way. Women in the media are made out
to be purely sexual objects. Only images of women who are thin, over sexualized, and what our cultural believes to be "beautiful" are shown on
television, magazines, and ads. Lyrics in popular music often also degrade women. Constantly being bombarded by these inaccurate depictions of how
females should look and be treated has many negative effects on women. Inaccurate depictions of females in the media causes women to have
self–esteem issues, become over sexualized at a young age, and makes mistreatment by males seem acceptable. In our culture the "thin ideal" is
considered to be the only form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Self–esteem can hit an all–time low for women who find themselves pursuing these methods but still don't find themselves measuring up to the
women in the images. What these women don't realize is that the images they are seeing are fictional and that the women's bodies do not look that
way in the real world. Yet these women are still trying to attain this body type. They are working for an unachievable goal, and that is to have a body
that looks like the photo–shopped and airbrushed bodies that are shown in the media. Not only can the media cause women's self–esteem to plummet,
it can cause them to become over sexualized. Sexualization is defined by "the process of emphasizing the sexual nature of an individual (Fraser–Thill)".
In the media this happens constantly. "Virtually every media form studied provides ample evidence of the sexualization of women, including
television, music videos, music lyrics, movies, magazines, sports media, video games, the internet and advertising (Zurbriggen)". Being constantly
surrounded by these forms of media beginning at a very young age, young girls grow up looking up to and wanting to emulate the women that they
see. Women in the media are portrayed as nothing more than sexual objects. They dress in provocative clothing and imply sexual readiness in their
posture and facial expressions. It is extremely unhealthy for young girls to view this material, let alone aspire to replicate it. In 2007 the American

Essay on Kristen's Cookie Company
1.How long will it take you to fill a rush order?
Order Size 1 Dozen:6 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 2 + 1 = 26 minutes
Order Size 2 Dozen: 26 + 1 + 9 = 36 minutes
Order Size 3 Dozen:36 + 1 + 9 = 46 minutes
2.How many orders can you fill in a night, assuming that you are open four hours each night?
4 hours = 240 minutes
Bottleneck is the oven (setting and baking), which takes 10 minutes
Must account for the 8 minutes required to prepare prior to baking (wash/mix/spoon) the first batch
Must account for the 8 minutes required to complete (cooling/accept payment/packaging) the final batch
240 – 8 – 8 = 224 minutes available for bottleneck usage
Each order is 1 Dozen

4 minutes by roommate: set oven (1 minute per dozen), package (2 minutes per dozen), and accept payment (1 minute per order)
This represents 1 labor minute per cookie (12 labor minutes / 12 cookies) ii. 2 Dozen
Requires 17 total labor minutes to produce
a.10 minutes by Kristen: prepare (6 minutes) and spoon (4 minutes)
b.7 minutes by roommate: set oven (2 minutes), package (4 minutes), and accept payment (1 minute)
This represents 0.71 labor minutes per cookie (17 labor minutes / 24 cookies)
This means that there was a 29% reduction in labor (1 – 0.71), which means that it cost us 29% less in labor. Therefore, we can discount the price of 2
dozen up to 29% and still make at least the same amount of money as we would if we were to sell the 2 dozen separately (in separate orders) iii. 3

b.10 minutes by roommate: set oven (3 minutes), package (6 minutes), and accept payment (1 minute)
This represents 0.61 labor minutes per cookie (22 labor minutes / 36 cookies)
This means that there was a 39% reduction in labor (1 – 0.69), which means that it cost us 39% less in labor. Therefore, we can discount the price of 3

Triangular Number Of Triangular Numbers
Triangular Numbers
Eli Nazarian
Ms. Ramson
H Algebra 2A
October 21, 2014
A triangular number is a number that counts the amount of objects that form when they are put together to form an equilateral triangle (a triangle with
all equal sides). The most common object used to form a triangle are dots. When the dots create an equilateral triangle, the number of dots seen in the
triangle represent the triangular number. Overall, the sequence is generated from a pattern of dots which form a triangle.
The first row contains a single dot and each subsequent row contains more dots than the previous one. The sequence of triangular numbers are: 1, 3,
6,10, 15, 21... and so on.
When working with multiple triangles, each triangle is assigned a triangle number. For example, triangle one (T1) has a triangular number of one.
Triangle three has a triangular number of six. The letter T, followed but a number represents a certain triangle.
The formula to calculate the amount of object using a stated length is:
Tn(th)= n(n+1) 2
T represents triangle number. N represents the length of the three sides of the equilateral triangle. If a number (and only whole numbers) were plugged
in for N. The final answer of the problem would equal the number objects (dots) in the equilateral triangle.
Example: n= length of 6Formula: Tnth= n(n+1) 2
Plug in 6 for n. T6th=6(6+1) 2
Solve.T6th= 6(7)T6th=42T6th=21. 22

  • 3. Education Standards: Common Core Lately, there has been much argument over the implementation of the Common Core. The Common Core was a creation of the government to enhance America's education system through the modification of the current education standards. It forces students to think more critically and have a deeper understanding of the material that they are learning. The Common Core should not be instigated because it compels teachers and students to change their learning and teaching methods which could have a major influence on their education. There are countless pros and cons to the Common Core. The following paragraphs will outline both sides. The Common Core allows students to be enhanced thinkers by sanctioning them to critically evaluate and make conclusions rather than memorizing the meaning of literary terms and characters (Cameron, A19). This enhances students' skills and permits them to participate in a more active learning role. The Common Core demands more from students, in which students have to live up to those standards. With the Common Core, teachers have to "ensure that every child is thinking, participating, inquiring, and working with others ... and discovering" (Cameron, A19). Under the Common Core, students nationwide will gain the same knowledge and skills as others required for future jobs. In order for the Common Core to unify the standards, the requirement for standardized testing nationwide is absolutely necessary (Meador, Pros and Cons). Thus, allowing states to compare ... • 4. Group Participation and Interaction Explored in 12 Angry Men Stop for a moment and think how many times have you said "I'll kill you" to a person and actually killed that person? Two times? Three times? We all know that the answer is never unless of course you're actually a killer. This is what might or might not have happened with the boy who was accused of killing his father in the movie 12 Angry Men. Firstly, let's consider on the title of the movie itself which says "12 Angry Men." Twelve is indicating the number of group members, angry is indicating the state of their temper, and men indicating their gender. So the title of the movie strongly connects to the name of the class "Group Communication Studies" because both involve a group, a goal and communication among the group members in order... They both are hesitant in taking their stance. Especially Jury number 12 repeatedly changes his decision depending on what the aggressive members were wanting him to say. Jury number 3 was the most aggressive of all the 12 men. There was something not–so–appealing–yet–very–interesting about his personality. He was so single–minded that he not only disagreed to what others said, but was also willing to ask them to shut up and just say "guilty." His aggressive behavior gives us a reason to think that he might have a bad relation with his son, which he actually had and reveals the story at the end. Jury number 7 has a completely different approach. He wants the discussions to end soon because he has got more important things to do in his life rather than having a look at the evidence's that could help to save someone's life. According to Benne and Sheats Functional Group Goals, Jury number 7 is an example of a deserter. Deserter is a person who withdraws from the group; appears "above it all" and bored or annoyed with the discussion; remains aloof or stops contributing ( Engleberg and Wynn 55). A deserter can also be called a self centered person. Jury number 8 seems an initiator–contributor, who proposes ideas and suggestions; provides direction for the group; gets the group ... • 5. A Search for Hope Famous English poet and playwright William Shakespeare uses "hope" in King Richard III as "True hope is swift, and flies with swallow's wings: Kings it makes gods, and meaner creatures kings" (Shakespeare). Shakespeare likens "hope" to wings that elevate people during its existence, a power which strengthens people. During my research different sources, from academic writings to visual sources, discussed how the result of an aim is affected by "hope". The results that I gained from my research have shown that people can't achieve their dreams in the lack of hope. Hope is the irreplaceable element of success. The dictionary gives a basic meaning of hope, but the explanation of the word is deficient. The Oxford dictionary, an online dictionary which is created by The Oxford University, defines hope as "to want something to happen and think that is possible"(Hope). The denotation by The Oxford dictionary vitiates the true meaning of the word "hope". "To want something to happen" (Hope) can be the explanation of require/desire, however, simplifying hope like that would be ignoring the effects of hope which are beyond desiring. After the requirement, having hope for the aim would help in the process of achieving. Defining second part of hope as "to think something is possible" (Hope) would be insufficient because hope can make people believe and attach themselves to their aim even though in the situations which are called impossible. With this belief, hope can make people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Examples Of Lexical Cohesion This paper tackles how cohesion can be effective to make the text more united. Both cohesive devices; lexical and grammatical, have a powerful role in giving the text texture. Lexical devices are repetition, antonyms, synonyms, and general words. On the other hand, grammatical devices are reference, conjunction, and ellipsis. Both of them provide the text harmony and meaning. Lexical Cohesion Lexical cohesion occurs when two words are semantically related to each other such as, repetition, synonyms, antonyms, general words, and superordinate. Firstly, repetition occurs when one word is mentioned more than one time throughout the text. To illustrate, the word "and" is repeated about 22 times in the text , the word "her" is repeated around 15 times in paragraphs number 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13, the morpheme "mother" is repeated 5 times in paragraphs number 1, 8, and 14, the pronoun " I" ... Additive conjunctions, "also" in paragraph number 6, "or" in paragraph number 3, "and" in paragraphs number 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, are used when the writer wants to add more information to his idea. Causal conjunctions like, "in order to" in paragraph number 7, "so" in paragraph number 8, 9, and 14, and "because" in paragraph number 14, are used to tell a reason or a result. Adversative conjunctions like, "but" in paragraph 8, and "although" in paragraph number 11, are used to confirm opposite ideas. • 10. Gender Roles in Japan Essay It is no secret that for centuries, the Japanese woman has been, to most observers, a model of elegance and graceful beauty. A picture of a kimono–clad, modest, and often silent woman has been plastered everywhere, allowing for the upmost passive subjection. If we look deeper into this image of woman, can we tell if this picture is complete? How do these women painted in representative images far in the modern world? The ideal woman in Japan is expected to be both a good wife, and a wise mother. Though these seem like reasonable expectations, there is a much deeper meaning to them that has shown signs of being outdated. During the 1800's and 1900's, women were subjected to society's vision of them, and could not break free for fear of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She says to me, 'Endurance a woman should cultivate more than anything else. If you endure well in any circumstance, you will achieve happiness." This quote is representative of the popular stereotype of Japanese women. It defines how they worked hard at home to please the men, and did whatever was expected of them without complaint. A key word in this quote is endurance. It is stated that a woman who endures well in any circumstance will achieve happiness, and what is said is true. History reports that though there were many women in leadership positions (Queens, empresses, etc.), they appeared to be second–class citizens. It seemed as though the only relationship they were prompted to have was with their husbands. However, they endured. They came to the realization that if this is how life would be, this is the life they would have to get used to. Due to multiple different influences, there are many inconsistencies when it comes to the role of women in ancient Japan. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Ring Contraction Of A Ring RING CONTRACTION All the carbons of a ring are equivalent (a ring has no ends like an open–chain compound does),1 ring compounds can be classified as either monocyclic or polycyclic compounds. As the word "contraction" means shrinking, ring contraction can be defined as the process of shrinking larger ring compounds which are less strained into a more strained smaller ring structures. Instead of making small strained ring by chemical reaction which is very strenuous to do, ring contraction is a process of easing the stress of forming smaller strained ring on their own. A ring contraction reaction is a type of organic reaction in which usually a hydrocarbon ring is reduced in size.2 Ring contraction reactions are an important method to increase molecular complexity in a single step, because, in many cases, the reorganization of the bonds occurs with a high level of selectivity, affording products not easily accessible by other synthetic approaches.2. and 3. The smallest ring compound possible is cyclopropane, this is so because we need at least three carbon atoms to form a ring structure. Cyclopropane is the most strained ring compound due to the fact that its carbon atoms are sp3 hybridized, sp3 carbon have an angle of 1090, but the carbon atoms in cyclopropane are strained in an angle of 600. In the contract the defendant would pay the plaintiff $53,571.42 a week for fourteen weeks starting on May, 23 1966, for a total of 750,000. On April 4, 1966 Parker received a letter from Fox stating that they canceled the production of Bloomer girl but to avoid any damages for not complying to their obligations under their written contract they offered her the leading role in a film called Big Country. Fox gave her a week to respond to the request but failed too and the offer expired. Later Parker sued Fox to recover the agreed guaranteed compensation for "Bloomer Girl" and the defendant's breach of contract. 3) Issue Was the job that Fox offered Parker in Big Country comparable employment and was Parker obligated to accept to mitigate damages? 4) Decisions The judge ruled in favor of the plaintiff. Playing in a musical can be much more demanding and tiring, due to the work of a dancer and singer being far more strenuous. Memorizing and perfecting your lyrics, lines, and choreography is not always easy. When filming a musical scene that includes singing or dancing, the scene must be completely reshot as to not disrupt the fluency. In dramas, it is easy to reshoot a simple line or action, as it can be easily edited to not disrupt the fluency. It is harder to redo a complete song vs reshooting a sentence or phrase for both the actors and the crew. Things like this puts musicals on a much higher level than a drama. Up until now I thought these were just ways of my parents getting rid of me for a couple hours a day. Up until now I did not realize that I learned anything more from playing these sports than hitting a homerun, serving a kick serve, or being able to set a ball 20 feet away. Now, I realize that all these sports have taught me some key life lessons. These sports have taught me that mistakes are great, to handle stress, and how to increase positive energy even when things are not going well. They have given me a lifetime of friends, leadership skills and more confidence in what I do. In short, playing a sport has endless benefits. One of the more obvious benefits is better health. This would not be temporary health benefits but life long. It is sad to hear that in the United States alone there has been a growth in childhood obesity. 33% of children and adolescents are obese. By participating in a sport, it helps regulates the calories that are being burned, and it helps one maintain a healthy weight. The Report from the United Nations Inter–Agency Task Force on Sport for Development and Peace states that children and teens, upon playing a sport, increase the development of healthy bones, efficient heart and lung function, and improved motor skills and cognitive function. In the year 1980, the first version of Simplicity was created, then came 1998 followed up by 2006. In the first version, 1980, Zinsser created a long and wordy paper. He used specific examples but included details that were unnecessary. This is ironic because the paper is about how writers can write unnecessary words and phrases creating complicated sentences. The sentence made complete sense just as "what father or mother can put together a child's toy from the instructions on the box?". In paragraph 4 he changed what was originally "the president of a major university" in versions from 1980 and 98 to "the president of my university" in the 2006 version, making a personal connection with the reader. (Paragraph 8– 2006) He completely redid the paragraph. In the 1980 and 1994 version, the 8th paragraph was completely unneeded and included a story that seemed unrelated to the topic of writing. It started as "I love to be alone". The 2006 version of this paragraph wasn't completely off topic from the original. I still believe this paragraph isn't needed, even with the shortening. With the 2006 version he has taken out the "he's" and switched to "they". This allows women to feel included, making it more likely for a female to enjoy the writing. The project plan discussed below has been generated through the use of a projectplanning scheduling technique, Critical Path Methodology, to secure the scientific approach. The program schedule provides a quantitative basis to make managerial decisions to shorten the implementation time of the overall project. 2. Assumptions and Approximations The mathematical model created to schedule all the projects is based upon a number of simplifying assumptions and approximations. These need to be taken into account in order to make an independent judgment about the model's usefulness. The assumptions and approximations of this model are: п‚· The product introduction program has been broken down into three groups of activities: Research & Development, Marketing & Advertising, and Promotion; п‚· The description of each activity and the indicated time required for its completion in weeks was taken at face value from the case; п‚· The tasks to be performed by each department and the estimated durations and deadlines were also considered as given; п‚· The preceding activities for each activity are considered as such; п‚· The tasks that could potentially be "crashed" by increasing resources were decisions based on the information available in the case.

Starfish, shark, whale and dolphin probability: The probability of picking a starfish will equal the number of starfish (3) divided by the total number (10). Therefore, the probability of the student picking a starfish is 3/10. The probability of picking a shark will be 3 sharks out of 10. This equals 3/10 The probability of whales will be 3/10 and the probability of dolphins will be 1/10. 2. How are the probabilities affected if each student replaces his or her sea animal after picking it? When a student replaces their sea animal, nothing will change. On the first pull, the probability of getting a starfish is 3/10, because there are 10 sea animals and 3 of them are starfish. If that starfish is replaced (put back in the fishpond), the probability for the second pull is still 3/10, and that means the events are independent. The result of one trial does not affect the result of another. Probabilities remain the same. 3. Select one of the sea animals. Give an example of how the probabilities are changed if that sea animal is replaced or not replaced after a student picks it out of the fishpond. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, in Document C, that "the United States will conquer Mexico, but it will be as the man swallows the arsenic." This statement points out a key similarity between this war and the Civil War– both were tainted by slavery. The Mexican War would result in new slave states, making abolitionists angry, resulting in the conflicts that started the Civil War. Document D, written by David Wilmot of the Wilmot Proviso, reveals the tensions created by the Mexican cession, saying, "I ask not that slavery be abolished, I demand that this government preserve the integrity of free territory against the aggressions of slavery–against its wrongful usurpations." Up until that point, there were an equal number of slave and free states. How would the balance be maintained? Wilmot suggested that slavery remain only in the current slave states and not spread to any new territories. However, his plan was rejected, showing that neither side would compromise, but, instead, that the Union would break apart. Therefore, the Compromise of 1850 was passed as a way to appease the north and the south. Document E shows the distinct separation of slave and free states resultant of this compromise. This reveals a major breakup of the Union over slavery. Document F points out the Kansas–Nebraska Act of 1854, created by Stephen Douglas, which divided the newly gained Nebraska Territory into two states, Kansas and Nebraska, and ... • 43. Review Of ' The Crucible ' Kristina Garcia Mrs. Herrera English III December 11, 2016 What is Corruption? Corruption can mean so many things and can be interpreted in countless ways but in the most simplistic way of explaining what it is, it is the misuse of judgment, the struggle between what is right and what is wrong. No one really knows what led to corruption, but some say it was religious reasons that led to this malfeasance, meaning the devil, while others believe different. People in today's society tend to relate this topic to politics because it is most commonly occurs within that faction of society. Corruption is a reoccurring theme throughout The Crucible, it shows through the political, McCarthyism, religious and personal reasons of the Colonial Era. The Crucible takes place in the early England colonies in Salem, Massachusetts during what we know as the witch trials. It is based on a group of girls involved in "witch like" activities, who begin to accuse others of committing witchcraft just so that they do not get into trouble. One girl controls the group, Abigail Williams, and she plots againstElizabeth Proctor who is married to John Proctor, who Abigail had an affair with. Due to these childish and dramatic acts of Abigail and the girls, half the townspeople were taken to trial and found guilty of witchery and worshipping the devil and were sentenced to hang. Not till the end did the townspeople realize their mistake about the accusations, which turned out to be false. Political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Renaissance has been a publicly listed company in New Zealand since 1968. Though the company has existed in many forms, its current name was adopted in 1997, at which time key business concentrations were also developed. It functions along three key business streams: (1) distribution, (2) education, and (3) e–business. The company has built a successful information technology distribution business with a number of leading international brands. Renaissance has, in the past, had exclusive distribution rights for Apple computer products in New Zealand. However, the global policy of the computer manufacturer now prohibits exclusive deals. Though exclusivity is no longer possible, Renaissance is still the sole wholesale distributor for Apple locally. The manufacturer has not moved to cultivate relationships with other New Zealand distributors and has expressed no intention to do so in the future, in spite of the fact that it has done so elsewhere in the world. Sole distributorship of Apple products provides Renaissance with a degree of credibility in the market. Renaissance achieves economies of scale through the distribution of multiple brands. • 46. The Media's Negative Affect on Women Essay The Media's Negative Affect on Women Our society's media portrays women in a very distorted and twisted way. Women in the media are made out to be purely sexual objects. Only images of women who are thin, over sexualized, and what our cultural believes to be "beautiful" are shown on television, magazines, and ads. Lyrics in popular music often also degrade women. Constantly being bombarded by these inaccurate depictions of how females should look and be treated has many negative effects on women. Inaccurate depictions of females in the media causes women to have self–esteem issues, become over sexualized at a young age, and makes mistreatment by males seem acceptable. In our culture the "thin ideal" is considered to be the only form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Self–esteem can hit an all–time low for women who find themselves pursuing these methods but still don't find themselves measuring up to the women in the images. What these women don't realize is that the images they are seeing are fictional and that the women's bodies do not look that way in the real world. Yet these women are still trying to attain this body type. They are working for an unachievable goal, and that is to have a body that looks like the photo–shopped and airbrushed bodies that are shown in the media. Not only can the media cause women's self–esteem to plummet, it can cause them to become over sexualized. Sexualization is defined by "the process of emphasizing the sexual nature of an individual (Fraser–Thill)". In the media this happens constantly. "Virtually every media form studied provides ample evidence of the sexualization of women, including television, music videos, music lyrics, movies, magazines, sports media, video games, the internet and advertising (Zurbriggen)". Being constantly surrounded by these forms of media beginning at a very young age, young girls grow up looking up to and wanting to emulate the women that they see. Women in the media are portrayed as nothing more than sexual objects. They dress in provocative clothing and imply sexual readiness in their posture and facial expressions. It is extremely unhealthy for young girls to view this material, let alone aspire to replicate it. In 2007 the American Psychological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Triangular Number Of Triangular Numbers Triangular Numbers Eli Nazarian Ms. Ramson H Algebra 2A October 21, 2014 A triangular number is a number that counts the amount of objects that form when they are put together to form an equilateral triangle (a triangle with all equal sides). The most common object used to form a triangle are dots. When the dots create an equilateral triangle, the number of dots seen in the triangle represent the triangular number. Overall, the sequence is generated from a pattern of dots which form a triangle. The first row contains a single dot and each subsequent row contains more dots than the previous one. The sequence of triangular numbers are: 1, 3, 6,10, 15, 21... and so on. When working with multiple triangles, each triangle is assigned a triangle number. For example, triangle one (T1) has a triangular number of one. Triangle three has a triangular number of six. The letter T, followed but a number represents a certain triangle. The formula to calculate the amount of object using a stated length is: Tn(th)= n(n+1) 2 T represents triangle number. N represents the length of the three sides of the equilateral triangle. If a number (and only whole numbers) were plugged in for N. The final answer of the problem would equal the number objects (dots) in the equilateral triangle. Example: n= length of 6Formula: Tnth= n(n+1) 2 Plug in 6 for n. T6th=6(6+1) 2
