Amar Joyti School & rehabilitation center is the organization which works on the concept of
“making an india which places its person with disability on the same platform as the non-
disabled citizens” Amar jyoti has its main focus on disabled children. It’s tries to provide them
inclusive and integrated education and vocational training, so that they can survive in the world.
At amar jyoti, inclusion is practiced as a developmental project in education. While some of the
educable children with different difficulties are studying together in regular classes, the less
educable are put in special sections in the same campus. These students are socially integrated in
daily assembly, mid – day meals, vocational training, cultural and sports activities.
The holistic approach, followed by the special educators to handle children with disabilities,
prepares and requires them to be involved in multifarious activities throughout the year.
I hope this report should throw light on the necessity of amar jyoti school & rehabilitation center
in India.

6. Introduction
Thirty years ago so many disabled children either mentally challenged or physically challenged
were facing many problems in their survival in the society. As some of them were deaf, some
were visually impaired and some were mentally challenged, they were treated as a separate being
because their need, body language, caring, skills, all is totally different from the normal children.
Some time they became the center of laughing because of their behavior in the society.
All that happened because of lack of appropriate awareness and information among people. As a
result disabled children were feeling separated from the society.
Ray of hope and support-
Amar jyoti charitable trust – organizations that sees ability and talent in disability of children.
This trust started in the year 1981 by DR. Mrs. UMA TULI in DELHI, as a help and support to
the disabled children at a very lower level. Then as the time passed the coverage area of Amar
jyoti had increased. The main objective of the organization is to provide inclusive and integrated
education, vocation training etc. to the disabled children, so that they can survive in the world,
face the challenges of life, without getting interrupted by their disability.
In other word it converts their disability in their ability.
The school has been a pioneer in the field of inclusive education. The path breaking concept of
putting children with and without disability in almost equal numbers is being carried out here
successfully for the last thirty years.

7. BranchinGwalior
After getting success and providing benefits
to many disabled children of Delhi, amar jyoti had spreaded its wings and opened a branch in
Gwalior – the city of historic places, in the year 1989, named amar jyoti school and rehabilitation
center.
Starting from admission a team of psychologists and special educators work together for
assessment and allocation of classes. The assistive devices are provided as per need.
The non disabled are sensitized to accept and help their peers with mild and moderate disability.
Those who need the special educators ensure their integration in regular classes in the same
premises gradually as per their potential.
Children are encouraged to participate in vocational training, sports & cultural activities which
are a part of the curriculum. The departments of textile designing, stitching, computer, screen
painting and beauty culture have been running smoothly for many years.
The departments of Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Orthotic workshop help persons with
disability.
Special section: - There are five special sections for disabled children with special need. They
are put in separate sections only for academic purpose, for all other activities like games, music,
assembly and vocational training they are put together with other children. This interaction raises
their confidence level so much that to some extent they do well in studies also. For academics
also they go to classes for different subject according to their performance.
Towards empowerment:

8. Vocational training is a part of the school curriculum. the department of taxtile designing,
stitching, computer, screen printing and beauty culture have been smoothly running these courses
for the past several years.
Medical care:
As the organization aim to total rehabilitation of the child, necessary medical services like
physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy are provided in the premises.
Speech therapy unit handles speech and hearing impaired children of school.
Orthotic workshop:
The department provides orthotic aids and appliances to the physically challenged in the campus.
Children in the school are immensely benefited as they get required support in the premises itself
whenever required.
in its endeavours to strengthen networking with like minded organization, Amar jyoti
collaborated with the rattan jyoti neralaya foundation, Gwalior to start computer training for the
visually impaired at amar jyoti’s Gwalior center.
Amar jyoti has come a long way in its three-decade journey with the help of innumerable
supporters and dedicated members of the entire team.
Concept

9. To develop an India, which place its persons with disability on the same platform as the non
disabled citizens.
To integrate person with disabilities into the community
its multifarious activities have contributed, in some small measure, towards achieving the
cherished goal with its holistic approach of providing inclusive education, healthcare, skill
training, capacity building courses and enhancing enhancing employment opportunities.
Objectives
To offer comprehensive rehabilitative services: The main objective of Amar jyoti charitable
trust is to provide comprehensive rehabilitative services to the disabled children so that they
Can learn ‘How to survive in the society’ in a practical and effective manner.
To empower and mainstream persons with disabilities: The secondary objective of Amar
jyoti is to provide support to the specially challenged children and person to fight against
disability, and to take their life in the mainstream of better survival.
To develop human resources: By providing inclusive and integrated education the disabled
children, Amar jyoti objects to contribute in the human resource of our country.

10. FUNCTIONS
To socially integrate the children with mental challenges, with the help of special
education facilities.
To establish education and work opportunities and to make these accessible to the
disabled, through research oriented programmes and supplying aids and assertive devices
To increase the awareness of the problem of disabled through campaign and mass media.
To integrate persons with disabilities in to the community.
To provide facilities to rehabilitate persons with disabilities through Vocational training.

The Amar jyoti charitable Trust had started with the object of providing necessary help and
support to the disabled children of the country. The main target group of Amar jyoti charitable
trust is “Disabled children and persons in india”

11. Organization
Recognized middle school working on the principle of inclusive education giving training
in vocational skills, Art & craft, dance, music & Theatre.
Regular workshops and seminars conducted at school. Sports are an integral part of
curriculum.
Centre has medical units in physiotherapy, occupational therapy & speech therapy.
Orthotic workshop distributes aids and appliances to needy people.

18. My experiences
Day 1-3:
I visited the amar jyoti school & rehabilitation center, Gwalior and met the principal of
amar Jyoti School Mrs. sushila dubey.
She gave me a brief idea about amar jyoti that how it works, its concept, objective,
project etc.
Mr.vivek tuli secretary of amar jyoti have met me and asked some question about me
and my career plan.then he assigned the task to collect the information about the some
course which is offered by ignou and summit the survey report.
Day 4-6:
Mrs. Sushila dubey take me to the school visit.
Interacted with children of amar Jyoti School.
Taught disciplines to children of 2nd class where all the childrens are normal accept
one.

19. Day 7-9
Take the motivation class more than 25 children who have the problem of hearing
impairment.
Taught drawing to the selected group of more than 25 children with and without
disability.
Day 10-12:
taught art and craft to the selected group of more then 25 children with and without
disability.
Celebrated the children’s day with the children’s of amar jyoti.
Day 13-15:
Submitted the course information which is assigned me.

21. Analysis
After working with Amar jyoti school & rehabilitation center Gwalior, I am very impressed by
the way in which they have organized and control their activities and the organization. I like the
concept of “Making an India”, which places its persons with disability on the same platform as
the non- disabled citizens. As we all know that they always treated as disabled people but they
have extra talents that less people(Who care for them) know about it which influence others so
we have to appreciate that talents and encourage their work so that they will live as a normal life
and live happily without complain.
They really do well and their disability is their “Power” to grow in this hard-hearted world. I
really thanks to god & college for giving me this opportunity to work with them.
