1. Teacher Information
What do we do with our turtle?
Assalammualaikum! Thanks for being a part of the Touring Turtle Project! Here is some
information for you about the project that will give you a better idea of things you can do
with your turtle once it arrives.
1. Meet and get to know your turtle!
Open up her box and see what the previous class has sent along with your turtle. What
things can you learn about where it’s been so far?
2. Learn more about your Turtle
Turtle is an adventurous creature. It roams in the sea effortlessly to many countries of the
world. Therefore, turtle needs to learn the English Language to survive. You can help the
turtle by teaching her words that she can use in her travels.
3. Stamp Your Turtle’s Passport
Your class will get a 2-page spread in Turtle’s passport. Only students are allowed to
complete the passport. However, teacher can help by making sure they include:
1. A class picture with the school background.
2. School stamp.
3. Words that they have taught.
2. 4. Help turtle learn new words
Although an avid learner, turtle is highly kinesthetic. She learns best by demonstration
and a lot of singing and dancing. For each stop, turtle must learn 5 new words. Kindly
refer to the passport for the words that turtle has learned. These words must be
accompanied with sample sentences so that turtle will understand how they are used.
While teaching turtle, you need to do it creatively. Only students are allowed to teach
turtle. This creative teaching must be recorded in a video duration of 30-60 seconds per
word. The videos recorded must be sent to Whatsapp 011-374 100 14 to be uploaded
onto the Perky Piung YouTube page.
4. Post at least 2 comments on other videos.
To get the community growing, students and teachers from the same school must make
at least 2 comments on the videos made by others. Furthermore, you can get ideas on
how to make your video better and more entertaining to watch.
5. Online presence
If you or your class is connected on social media platform, share your turtle videos (after
sending it to me, of course), with the hashtag #perkypiungterengganu and
#HIPprojectsMalaysia
6. Posting Your Turtle
Sending your turtle to its next destination is not a hassle. You can post it through the
pigeon-hole at PPDHT. Let your dispatch know the school of your choice and off it goes.
Kindly notify me of the school it’s going to. I will make the necessary arrangement with
the receiving school.
3. 7. Work flow (in case you have gone dizzy reading)
I like to thank you for committing to the project, it’s going to be great for the kids! And I
hope you will have great time organizing. Cheers!
