4. INTRODUCTION
An Endangered Species is one which has
been categorised by the International union for conservation of
nature [IUCN] as likely to become extinct. Conservation
biologists use the IUCN Red List, where “Endangered“ is the
second most severe conservation status for wild populations,
following critically Endangered. In this world there has 3079
animals and 2655 plants are Endangered compared with 1998
levels of 1102 and 1197, respectivelly. Many nations have laws
that protect conservation reliant species.
5. DATA COLLECTED
An endangered species considered to be in immediate
danger of extinction, and survival's unlikely if the casual
factors are continued.
An endangered species is a native species that faces a
significant risk of extinction in the near future throughout
all or a significant portion of its range.
Such a species may be declining in number due to threats
such as habit destruction, climate change, or pressure from
invasive species.
6. The term endangered species describes a species that faces a
risk of extinction but does not necessarily indicate that the
species is protected under any law.
The endangered species act of1973[Act],recognizing that
endangered and threatened species of wild life and plants "are
of esthetic,ecological,educational, historical, recreational, an
scientific value to the nation and its people.”
7. The endangered species which is critically
endangered they are,
Lion Tailed Macaque
Giant panda
Tiger
Arogyapacha
Strobilanthes
Nilgiri Thar
Mangrove trees etc…
9. LION-TAILEDMACAQUE
Lion-tailed macaque it is a endangered animal which is protected
in Silent Valley National Park in kerala.Silent Valley National
Park is the wide range of wild life and home to a largest
population of endangered species like this Lion-tailed macaque.
10. GIANTPANDA
It is also called panda bear. It is easily recognized the large
distinctive large patches around its eyes and the body which
seen white and black colour. It is highly endangered category
and so this animal was protected in many areas of world like
Sanctuaries National parks and Zoological parks.
11. INDIANLEOPARD
Indian Leopard which is include in endangered species. Indian
leopards are threatened by loss of habit, hunting fragmentation
of formerly connected populations and competition with other
predators. Indian leopard was protected by national parks,
wild sanctuaries and also zoological parks.
12. BENGALTIGER
It is the most numerous tiger species. Its populations have been
estimated at 1,706-1,909 in india. It has been classified as
endangered by the IUCN.Habitat loses and the extremely large
scale incidences of poaching are series threats to the species. Tiger
was protected by tiger reserve centers. In Kerala the main tiger
reserve centre is Periyar Tiger Reserve.
13. NILGIRITAHR
It is an endangered mountain ungulate endemic to the southern
part of the western Ghuts. The Eravikulam national park has the
highest density an largest surviving population of nilgiri tahr.
Habitat loss and poaching are the two major threats to the nilgiri
tahr. Mainly protected in Eravikulam National Park in Kerala.
14. WILDELEPHAND
Wild elephant is the largest mammals. The wild elephants are
listed in endangered by the IUCN.One of the biggest threats to

Western Ghuts.
15. WILDWATERBUFFALO
It is also called Asian buffallo,it is listed as Endangered in the
IUCNRed list. It severely threats ,especially HYBRIDISATION.
Other threats are hunting, habitat loss, degradation of wet lands,
diseases and parasites etc…It is legally protected in wild life
sanctuaries in Bhutan,India,Nepal and Thailand.
17. AROGYAPACHA[TRICHOPUS]
It is a small herbaceous plant, it’s also in medicinal value.
Which is endangered category. So it is protected in western guts
at Agastyamala and TBGRI[Tropical Botanical Garden And
Research Institute].
18. NEELAKURINJI[STROBILANTHES]
It is a shrub it is found in mainly Nilgiri biosphere reserve
which is protected. It is also an endangered category. Its flower
is most beautiful colour blue.
19. ADALODAKAM[ADATHODA]
It is a large shrub which is a good medicine in Asthma and
Cough. It is also seen in endangered species. It is protected in

grow in saline coastal areas. Approximately 35%of mangroves
areas are lost in day by day. so it protect against mangrove
threatened and it is conserved. The plant is protected from the
tsunami, cyclones and other storms.
26. CONCLUSION

likely to become extinct. Conservation biologists use the
IUCN Red List, where endangered is the second most severe
conservation status for wild populations, following critically
endangered. Many organisms like Lion Tailed Macaque,
