where the music is ever-changing, but has a
wide appeal and is favored by the public
Pop music began to be applied specifically in
the middle of the 20th century.

music, artists are able to gain quick fame
nationwide
It contrasts to art and traditional music which
are usually listened by smaller, local
audiences.

following (fans). An example is how Frank Sinatra is
idolized by a lot of teenagers, which made him the first
teen pop star during his time.
Influence other music genres by emphasizing and
focusing on the vocalist with the orchestra as the
background music.
