2. Spanish was first taught
in 2005.
It was just taught with the KS2 children for
45 minutes a week.
In 2007 it was introduced to KS1 for 30
minutes a week.
In 2010 it was introduced to Reception for 20
minutes a week.
In 2011 nursery began to have Spanish
lessons.
We now have bi-iingual classes in year 1,2, 3
and 4. They have Spanish in Art, Music and
PE.
3. We became part of two international
research projects in Spanish and made a link
with a Spanish school. They sent us emails,
pictures, photos, plays and we sent many
items back.
11. We launched our Mexican
project with Spanish songs
and dance.
12. Now all the staff and
children try to speak
Spanish!
13. We now teach Spanish in
PE, Art and Music in year
1, 2, 3 and 4.
• We have Spanish signs all around the
school.
• We have students from Valencia and
Salamanca University to help us with our
Spanish lessons.
• We have many Spanish speaking
volunteers.
• We have links with other Spanish speaking
countries.
• We love Spanish at St. Paul’s!!
14. It is also about cultural links, at half term in Oct/Nov.
2012, our Spanish teacher Mrs. White and our
Headteacher Mrs. Dupret visited our link schools in
Mexico. This gives the children an extra reason to
converse in Spanish.
