I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight. I’m Aynne Valencia, I, along with Josh Damon Williams lead int local chapter of the San Francisco IXDA.
IXDA is the Interaction Design Association, we are a grassroots group of designers who do much of the behind the scenes work in enabling user experiences across the products, mobile phones, websites, touch screens and even in the instrumentation of the the automobiles some of you took to get here tonight. The people in our organization are committed to good design and in the last few years we have noticed a trend of design being a catalyst to promote innovations that promoted positive social impact. These innovations include an interest in sustainability, the emergence of tools that enable technology to mediate people to people interactions and enabling people to share resources more efficiently in this planet we call home.
Tonight, we have brought together thinkers and inventors in this space to share their work and their thoughts.
But before we get started, I’d like to lead with this thought…
Positive changes don’t happen overnight…
They start with one person who shares an idea. And the idea spreads and massive positive change can happen.
So now I’d like to introduce our first speaker…
