2. College Basketball
• Simply I choose this magazine as a representative of college sports as there
is a lot of different subjects within the college life style, Sports being a big
part of this.
• It has a large, bold title which stands out clearly on the front cover, also a
skyline which is high lighted in red.
• Several cover lines which are in the same colour (red). The main cover line
as well is slightly bigger and also a different colour (yellow).
• It has 2 different images which would mean the bigger image of the one
player is what the main article is about and the two smaller are there as the
cover line images.
• I think it works well in its own genre however as it is only about the one
subject (basketball) it seems a bit plain for a college magazine and is only
aimed at the one gender.

3. UFOURIA
• I think this is a really good example of a college magazine, however the only
thing that I don’t like is the main image as it does not state anything about a
random girl on the front cover. Although this could appeal to certain
stereotypes of students.
• I like how it is simple and has got the cover lines which straight away points out
that it is a students/college magazine.
• The mast head is bold and sticks out from the rest of it not only because of its
size but also the colour contrast, as the back ground is a dark blue and the
mast head is a bright white meaning that the title is the first noticeable thing.
• This magazine itself does not have a bar code on it which in some
circumstances would be seen as a bad thing, because usually it is places on
the bottom left hand corner.
• Finally this could be mistaken for an indie magazine if u do not read the cover
lines purely because of the image the girl looks very indie stereotype.
• I do like the variety of colour that is used on it though because they have
highlighted the cover lines using different colours.

4. My CollegeMy College
• I really like this piece I think it works very well it isn’t to busy but it has all the
information needed, It has the mast head in a funky style (brush script MT).
• It has a Main cover line ( class of 2009) 2009 is slightly bolder than what the
writing is this is down to the choice of colour over the back ground.
• The image is of a laid back student leaning against books which I think is
eye catching and it also makes it interesting.
• It also has a border as well which isn’t usually scene on a magazine cover
however I think it is really effective.
• It also has a cover line just under the main cover line this is still obvious but
does not take away the main attention of the reader.
• The back ground is plain and simple but yet still effective, as it does not
draw all the attention away from what is written on it.

5. DG
• The cover is plain yet still interesting due to the choice of object on it, its
almost like hypnosis to look at with the contrast between the colours it
confuses the eye.
• I like the way they have used only 3 colours (red, Black and white). It
makes it more attractive as it isn’t overly done, and also you can see the
image coming out through the matching background.
• It has several cover lines, which aren’t amazingly bold, but it points across
what the magazine is about, I think this is an effective way because that is
the only form of writing on the magazine which means it is the only bit you
will need to read.
• I like the way they have made the master head big and bold and they font
style they have used is clear which means its eye catching and mainly the
first thing you see so you know that it is the title of the magazine.

6. The college issue
• It’s a very lively cover something going on at all areas of the cover, also a lot
of colours involved however it is a bad quality cover because it doesn’t
actually have any information on it apart from random little sections.
• It is set out bad and the title is barely visible because it blends in with
everything else.
• One thing it would be good for is drawing the viewers attention but that is
because it is so busy, had it been set out in a reasonable manner then it
would be a good design.
• It doesn’t actually make much sense and it has no visible connection with
college even though that is what it is aims for.
• Over all I think it is rather trashy the font used is plain the images are all to
messy and over lapping. Plus the choice of images looks like they been
ripped out of random books and things and just thrown together.
