4. Selecting a target hosting model needs multiple considerations
Discovery Effort – Low in IaaS and SaaS, and can use
standard traditional approaches of Server and Application
discovery.
Migration Effort – Low in IaaS and SaaS. Very high for
Cloud Native applications as it requires refactoring and
rewrite.
Workforce Expertise – High skillset requirement for Cloud
Native and Cloud Enabled applications. Automation can be
used to migrate to IaaS. Migration to SaaS can use
approaches provided by the software vendor.
Vendor Lock-in – Cloud enabled applications have high
degree of vendor lock-in
Migration Automation – Very high in IaaS. Possibility of
migration automation is low in Cloud Native applications.
Cloud Performance / ROI – High in cloud native and cloud
enabled.
DevOps / CI-CD – High in cloud native and cloud enabled

5. How do we qualify suitable workload loads for Cloud ?
Suitability assessment for workload migration
to cloud is done using four domains of
analysis –
• Business – Assess business suitability of application and
services for cloud migration
• Financial – Assess financial ROI for application and
services migration to cloud
• Technical – Assess technical feasibility for application
and services migration to cloud
• Functional – Assess application functional feasibility for
migration to cloud

12. Enablement : Post Migration Activities
12
Traditional Datacenter IT Operations
• Ticket Management
• Physical/Virtual Dedicated Infrastructure
• Automate day to day tasks
• Optimized for applications running on physical
stable infrastructure
Extend to Cloud IT Operations
• Self-Service / Quota management
• Multi hypervisors, clouds, containers
• Automate everything / use automation
frameworks
• Cloud native application, DevOps, CI/CD
Traditional Application Architecture Cloud Service Architecture
• OS / Application centric HA
• Application based queue system
• New servers to scale capacity
• Application / Server based monitoring
• Operator manage DNS and routing
• Fat-server databases, hard to manage
• Content delivered from one location or edge
networks
• Cloud managed HA
• Cloud based queue systems
• Autoscaling
• Cloud based monitoring
• Intelligent routing
• Cloud-managed database and HA
• Content delivered from cloud-managed
localized edge-networks
