1. Energy and Change in Chemistry
Grade 10 Year 5 MYP Science
Instructions
Below you will find collections of the 3 major assignment types for this unit of study:
● Summative Tasks (in blue)
● Formative Tasks (green)
● Chili Pepper Homework Tasks (red)
The title of each assignment links to the instruction page for that assignment, which can
also be found on the Moodle page. The assessment criteria are linked to rubrics, which
outline exactly what you need to do to achieve the highest level for each criterion.
Summative Tasks
These are the major summative assessments that count for grades on the report card. ALL
of these assessments are REQUIRED . You can click on the assessment title to see the
instructions for that particular task, which will also be shared with you via Google
Classroom and Drive. You can click on the assessment criteria to see rubrics for each one.
These same rubrics are embedded in the instructions of each assessment task.

Formative Tasks
These are links to a variety of resources, all of which support and inform your content
learning throughout the unit. They’re also posted on the Moodle page for this class. You
must engage with these activities as assigned by your teacher. Remember that even
though you don’t earn an achievement grade on homework, your engagement with the
homework is a big part of your effort grades on report cards, AND it largely determines how
successful you are on the assessed work in the blue section above.

3. Energy and Change in Chemistry
Grade 10 Year 5 MYP Science
● These tasks are your homework for the unit.
● They are grouped according to how hot they are:
the hotter the task, the deeper your knowledge of
the topic.
● Choose TWO MILD tasks, TWO MEDIUM tasks, and
ONE HOT task.
● Unless otherwise noted, share each task with me
via the Google Classroom platform.
