Intro Slide: Hello! I would like to introduce the idea of incorporating a digital classroom to your curriculum. I will discuss the benefits of a digital classroom and show you had to get started using the Google platform.
Slide 1:
Media students enjoy – Students can be motivated by the opportunity to use digital media
Access classroom from home – As long as students have internet access, they can access the classroom and find class information, resources, and work on assignments.
Notified of assignments via email – Students receive a link to their assignments via e-mail. They can also stay on top of assignments by viewing the class calendar.
No “lost” assignments – Students turn in assignments through the classroom, so there is no chance of loosing a worksheet.
Fast teacher feedback – Students can receive individualized, fast feedback.
Slide 2:
Incorporate apps from Google platform – Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms can all be added to an assignment.
In app grading – Teachers can give students grades and feedback on their work with in the app.
Coursework in one location – All student assignments are stored in your Google Docs.
Save and reuse assignments & posts – You can archive previous classes and reuse the content in the future.

I will now go over how to set up your digital classroom and give you a quick look at some of features available to you.

Log into Google
Scroll to the bottom of your app menu – If you do not see the Classroom app, you may have to find it in the Apps Marketplace and add it to your apps

This is an example of my classes. If I want to create a new class, click the + sign by your user name in the upper right corner
Choose “Create Class”
You will get a pop us asking you to name your new class.
Slide 6:
Congratulations! You have a classroom!
• When you open your classroom you will first be brought to your ‘Stream.’ This is like your ‘wall’ on Facebook or other social media platforms. This is were you will post assignments, announcement, and questions to your students.
• Use the main menu in the upper left corner to navigate your classrooms, assignments, and calendar and settings
• Click on “select theme” on the right side above the navigation bar to change the visual theme of your classroom.
Slide 7:
• Add your students by sending them an invitation via their Gmail.
• Students need to have a Gmail account to use Google Classroom.
• Students can also manual access the class by using the class code.

Your class is ready to go! Now, I will show you a few functions of Google Classroom.
First lets see what content you can share with your students:
By using the + button, you can add announcements, assignments, questions, or reuse a post.
Slide 9:
• First, click on the ‘Create Assignment’
• You will get a new window to begin your assignment. Name your assignment and give a description or directions (optional). Set a due date. You can also choose to send the assignment to multiple classes.
• You can add attachments, content from your Drive, videos, and links. You can add more than one form of content to each assignment.
That’s the basics of Google Classroom. Take advantage of the tours offered. Google also offers a good deal of online help pages.
• When you finish, click the blue “assign” button. If you’re not ready to assign it to your students or you need to make changes in the future, close the window – the assignment will automatically save as a draft.
