The ubiquitous ‘App shop’ is familiar to many users of smart phones and tablet PC. Indeed it has been the key factor for many in their choice of device. The Apple App shop’s huge range of ‘apps’ is seen as a critical factor in their success.
However the App shop is limited to Apple and Google Android; in the last month HP and Amazon Web Services have added ‘App shops’ to allow end users to directly provision various capabilities joining an already significant number of other technology vendors. Even more important is the rising number of enterprises who are establishing internal ‘App shops’ for their own users to create, share, and deploy the tools they need.
