2. OVERVIEW
RCEP is a free trade agreement between the ten ASEAN Member States and five of ASEAN’s
external partners ( China, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand) that seeks to consolidate all the
existing ASEAN free trade agreements into a mega regional FTA arrangement
