1. What is Known: Students will use basic internet surfing using
flickr.com and vimeo.com for collecting pictures and music. They
will also use email to send pictures from phone to computer
and/or transfer pictures from digital camera to computer.
Computers will have Windows Digital Story 3 software installed.
What is Unknown: Would all students have phones and pictures
to use in digital story? Will all students have adequate time at
school and home to work on the computers to create the quality
presentation that they desire?
2. What is Known: Students will learn how to tell their own
story/autobiography through the use of various electronic media
(pictures, music, etc..). They will engage in producing an artifact that
requires creativity and organization. The presentation will appeal to
the a specific audience (peers) and will utilize different sources of
material. *see TEK below
What is Unknown: How to use Windows Digital Story 3 effectively
for instruction to achieve the outcome expectations for the lesson?
How much time will be needed for students to obtain 20-25 pictures
for the story presentation? Monitor students ability to obtain
appropriate pictures and music for digital story.
*TEKS 110.ELA 15 D—Students will produce a multimedia presentation with graphics, images and
sound that appeals to a specific audience and synthesizes information from multiple points of view or
sources.
3. What is Known: This lesson will be a positive experience, particularly if
used at the beginning of the school year. The students will benefit
because they will learn about themselves, as well as learn about the other
classmates in an interesting and creative way. The classroom
atmosphere will be more cohesive, because they will appreciate the
culture and background of the other students.
What is Unknown: The time that will needed to be allotted for the
various phases of the assignment in order for students to complete the
digital story from beginning to end. In addition, will every student be
motivated and creative in their story? Students will need to understand
and apply a rubric for assessing the various requirements needed to
achieve the educational objective of the lesson.
