Bluetooth technology was created in 1994 as a wireless alternative to data cables, exchanging data using radio transmissions between 2402-2480 MHz. A Bluetooth master device can communicate with up to seven devices in an ad-hoc piconet network. Named after the Danish king who united factions, Bluetooth was created as an open standard to allow connectivity between different products and industries.
