3. INTRODUCTION
This project explains how a single chip
microcontroller can be used to analyze
heart beat rate signals in real time.
Here heart rate is measured by
employing the pulse method i.e blood
flow into the finger.
5. DESCRIPTION
• When blood flows during the systolic stroke of
the heart, the finger gets its blood via radial
artery of the arm.
• The blood flow into the finger can be sensed
photo electrically using LDR.
• The photocurrent is converted into voltage and
amplified by an operational amplifier.
• The microcontroller processes the signal and the
heart rate is displayed using 7-segment display.
9. ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
• PORTABLE
• LOW POWER
CONSUMPTION
• EASY TO USE
• NOT PRECISE
• REQUIRES A LIGHT
SOURCE
10. APPLICATIONS
• HEART RATE MONITORING IN FITNESS
CENTER.
• FOR ATHELETES
• IN RURAL AREAS WHERE MEDICAL FACILITIES
ARE LIMITED.
11. FUTURE SCOPE
• STORING THE HEART RATE
IN A MEMORY.
• CONNECTING WITH E-MAIL
TO SEND ALERT MESSAGES.
• INCLUDING OTHER BIO-
MEDICAL SIGNALS LIKE
BREATHING RATE ALONG
WITH
HEART RATE.
