Etizolam tablets are available as
Atizolm, Etilaam, Etizola, Sedekopan,

4. Active Ingredient

The active ingredient contained in Atizolm is
Etizolam. Each Atizolm tablet contains 0.5 mg
or 1 mg of Etizolam.
6. Uses of Atizolm Tablets

Atizolm tablets are used for the treatment of
insomnia, anxiety or panic attacks. This
medicine has an anxiolytic action about 6
times greater than that of Diazepam.
7. Atizolm Dosage

โขTreatment of Anxiety disorder: The dosage
is 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg twice daily (2 mg
maximum in any 24 hour period)
โขPanic disorder: The dosage is 0.5 mg twice
daily
โขInsomnia: The dosage is 1 mg to 2 mg
twice daily.

8. Storage Instructions

Etizolam Tablets (Atizolm) have to be
stored at controlled room temperature
i.e. from 20ยฐC to 25ยฐC (68ยฐF to 77ยฐF)
with excursions permitted between 15ยฐ
to 30ยฐC (59ยฐ to 86ยฐF).
Keep this as well as all other medicines
away from children and pets.

Caution must be exercised in patients with
history of lung insufficiency, muscle weakness,
impaired liver or kidney function, alcoholism or
drug addiction, elderly, during pregnancy and
breastfeeding.
Atizolm could cause dizziness or drowsiness,
do not drive a car or operate machinery while
taking this medication.
Do not drive or do other dangerous activities
after taking Etizolam until you feel fully awake.
Patients must avoid drinking alcohol.
Respiratory depression may occur in
Benzodiazepine overdose.
10. Atizolm Warnings

Use of Benzodiazepines could lead to
dependence. This risk increases with dose
and duration of treatment and in patients with
a history of alcohol or drug abuse.
Withdrawal symptoms like convulsions,
tremor, abdominal and muscle cramps,
vomiting, sweating, appetite decrease, weight
loss, anxiety and insomnia were seen during
Benzodiazepines discontinuation.
Etizolam must be reduced or discontinued
gradually.

Contraindications
Atizolm is contraindicated in patients with a
hypersensitivity to Etizolam or to any
medicine in the Benzodiazepine class or any
other component of this medication.
Atizolm is also contraindicated in patients with
acute narrow angle glaucoma, Severe liver
failure and during Pregnancy and lactation.
It is also contraindicated in cases of
Myasthenia gravis (Etizolam could increase the
muscle weakness) and Severe respiratory
failure or sleep apnea syndrome.
12. Etizolam Side Effects

โขMajor Etizolam (Atizolm tablets) side
effects can include drowsiness, sedation,
muscle weakness and incoordination,
fainting, headache, confusion, depression,
slurred speech, visual disturbances and
changes in libido and tremor.
13. Etizolam Overdose

Etizolam was generally well tolerated and the
few side-effects reported, mainly daytime
drowsiness, were of mild to moderate
severity.
Symptoms of Etizolam overdose could
include a slower rate of breathing, decreased
heartbeat rate, severe drowsiness and
fainting.
Report any incidence of overdose to the
doctor immediately as the symptoms can be
fatal, especially if it is consumed by a child or
a person using it without prescription.

Flumazenil, a GABA antagonist agent can
be used to reverse the effect of Etizolam
overdosage as well as classical
Benzodiazepines such as Diazepam and
Chlordiazepoxide.
15. Etizolam During Pregnancy

Etizolam (Atizolm tablets) has been
classified as Pregnancy Category C.
If Etizolam is used during pregnancy, or in
case the patient becomes pregnant while
taking Atizolm, the patient should be
apprised of the potential hazard to the fetus.
Because of experience with other members
of the Benzodiazepine class, Etizolam is
assumed to be capable of causing an
increased risk of congenital abnormalities
when administered to a pregnant woman
during the first trimester.
