2. Breathing We need the respiratory system to be able to breathe. The respiratory system is made up of the: - Nose: Cleans, warms and moistens the air during inhalation. - Larynx: Channels air and controls access to the lungs, and allows us to speak and make other sounds. - Windpipe: Air goes down the windpipe. - Lungs Inside the lungs we can find the bronchus , which are divided into smaller and smaller tubes, called bronchial tubes .
4. To breathe we make two movements: inhalation and exhalation. - Inhalation : - Exhalation : Air goes in through the nose, down the windpipe and into the lungs. The chest inflates because the lungs are full of air. Air leaves the lungs, through the windpipe and goes out through the nose and mouth. Breathing
5. Circulation Circulation is the journey our blood makes all round our body. The circulatory system takes care of the blood’s circulation. The circulatory system is made up of the: - Heart : - Blood vessels : It pumps the blood to every part of the body. It is situated between the two lungs. When we exercise, the heart pumps faster. There are three kinds of blood vessels: - Arteries : - Veins : They carry the blood from the heart to all parts of the body. They carry the blood from the different parts of the body to the heart. - Capillaries: They are very tiny blood vessels. Arteries and veins are divided into capillaries in order to reach all the organs in the body.
