1. Bail Bond Attorney
Warrant issued out of Texas; served by local authorities in Louisiana. I was released on bail
bond by local bondsman and told I would be notified of court date. I contacted court in Texas
and no date set yet? Can't afford an attorney so I'm not sure what to do at this point. Well, I
have your answer. The court will notify you when a court date is set, usually by writting. Make
sure the court has your current address and contact information. Also, give them the information
of you bailbondsman. I would routinely check back every week or so until you find your court
date, that way you can prove you were attempting to find out your court date and not fleeing the
court. You have the right to be represented by an attorney. If you can't afford one the judge will
appoint one for you. That will occur during the arraignment phase of the trial. Contact your local
public defender's office for advice.
