well too. When asked why he went for engineering, he
said,
“I thought I will get a high-paying job after completing my
masters, so, I never went for my passion, but I couldn’t
work as an engineer for long, so I reverted to my passion.”

A recent survey shows that in India, career choices
are driven more by the lure of getting jobs and not
by the skill set, or liking an individual has.

35 per cent of pupils prefer their parents as a key
source in terms of college selection

The responses collected in a survey showed that a staggering 93%
of the students who participated in the survey were aware of just
seven career options –
law, engineering, medicine, accounts and finance, design,
computer applications and IT, and management.
According to researchers, India has a variety of 250 career options
available across 40 domains covering 5,000 job types.
