called National Geographic for Kids. My role was to set
design standards for the in-classroom magazine to be
used as a teaching tool for reading, geography, history and
science. Designed and produced six issues of the 24-page
magazine as well as an 8-page teachers guide to help
teachers incorporate the lessons into their curriculum.
Worked with a team of editors on written content as
well as photo researchers, and illustrators. The editorial
and design team won Children’s Periodical of the Year
from the Association of Educational Publishers, an honor
rarely awarded in the first year of publication.
