2. New Additions:
Hey, I’m Munchkin the
Banded Mongoose. You
probably remember Bandit,
well me and him are best
buddies. Don’t tell him this,
but I think I’m in love with
him. I like to play hard to get
though...
Hello sweet people, I’m Homola
which in sepedi stands for Silent. I’m
causing quite a stir around camp as I
am always asking the volunteers to
feed me. Once I got a bit confused
though and accidently head-butted
our blind donkey, Eeyore, in the
stomach! Luckily he is a gentlemen
and just grunted and walked on.
3. Bird News:
‘Kakaaa Kakaaa’, which is hello in
my language. I’m the magnificent
Verraux Eagle aka Black Eagle, but
you can call me Jumper. I rule this
place, as all the other birds fear me
and the humans can’t help but
admire me. The local children that
visit me are afraid at first but I tell
them ‘kiko kika’ which means don’t
worry, I will not hurt you. After that
they love me and I enjoy all the
attention I get!
4. More Mongoose News:
What’s up? I’m sure you still
remember me, the one and
only notorious Bandit! Well
as you can see I have grown a
bit and I’m still adored by
everybody I’m living with
this new chick called
Munchkin, she is beautiful,
but please don’t tell her I said
that. I can’t loose my
reputation…
5. Mr. & Mrs. Strauss:
Hi Everyone! Just thought we
would check in and share with
you that we are feeling like royalty
at the moment. Until now the
pesky monkeys have been
stealing our dinner but the
volunteers have come to our
rescue and proudly stand guard
until we have finished. Which can
often take some time!
Oh, and we also have a smart new
shelter for when it rains. After all,
we don’t want to ruff up our
feathers. It’s important to always
look ones best you know!
6. Reptile news:
So guess who has a smart new
home?! You can now find me next to
the tortoises and dassies (who you
have yet to meet..!) It’s great!
Especially because every week I get
to see the kids show off their skills at
mini golf. Although I’m pretty sure I
would win hands down if I got to
play!
Until next time guys
7. Sad News Richard, one of our banded
mongoose sadly died a few days
after becoming ill of what we
believe was Aspiration
pneumonia.
Alice, our female meerkat,
passed away after having a
stroke and getting pneumonia,
leaving Gasper and Tiki without
Matriarch. The boys were very
quiet for a few days but all the
volunteers have been giving
them lots of attention. They
now have lots of females to
cuddle with on a daily basis!

16. Our website was hacked!
We had some bad luck with our Daktari website Someone
hacked it! Luckily Helmut from Media Slave was already
working on our new and improved mobile friendly website.
We would like to thank him for his continued support! And
our new Marketing Manager Amy Hulme for spending a lot
of time to help create an amazing website.
We apologize that our website isn’t a 100% ready yet, still
under construction.
