• Phrasal verbs are verbs which are followed by one or
more particles.

• Phrasal verbs can be:
• Literal – They keep the same meaning of the verb
• When the bell rang all the kids ran out of the
classroom and left school.
• Idiomatic – They change the meaning of the original
verb.
Oh no! we run out of gas and the nearest gas station is
five miles from here!
