6. Explanation:- Bethlehem Steel company, in 1898. Had 5 blast furnace. Gang of 75 person were formed. Each man loaded in average of 12.5 tons per day.
7. Scientific study showed that a person can handle between 47-48 tons per day. (1st Principle) We observed a gang for 3-4 days. Selected the best four. Finally selected Schmidt , a Pennsylvania Dutchman.(2nd Principle).
8. Salary was increased from $1.15 per day to $1.85 per day. Schmidt had to load 47 tons per day and management would provide a man to instruct him in attaining this goal. (3rd Principle)
