 As a licensed pharmacist in another country, you must
submit a request for recognition of a diploma or
training for the practice of pharmacy in Quebec with
the College so that your file be studied.
Procedures and processes
 1. Filing an application: the candidate who wants to recognize equivalence of a diploma
or training must provide the Directorate of admission and development the Form A
entitled Application for recognition of a diploma or training for the practice of pharmacy
in Quebec with the following documents:
 academic record, including a description of the courses taken, the number of credits for
each and the results obtained;
 a certified copy of any diploma he holds a copy;
 a certificate of participation in a training course successfully completed;
 a certificate of participation in any other activity of training and development in the field
of pharmacy;
 a description and an attestation of relevant work experience (describe internships and
work experience with the Form B );
 proof of his right to practice pharmacy in another jurisdiction;
 a letter of recommendation from a professional order;
 a list of relevant publications;
 Certification of the successful assessment and aptitude test administered by the
Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada Qualifying Examination;
 translation of documents that are not written in English or French is required.
 2. Assessment of the case: the admissions committee to Practice
(CAP) evaluates the dossier submitted, according to regulations;
 3. Decision: The CAP shall inform the applicant of its decision in
writing. It should be noted that the CAP evaluates applications three
times a year, in January, May and November. Must be provided within
30 days after the meeting at which the dossier evaluation is scheduled
to receive an answer on the equivalence;
 4. Managing the project: in the case of a decision not to recognize the
equivalence of the degree or in the case of a partial recognition of the
training, the CAP will inform the applicant in writing within 30 days of
the curriculum, courses or examinations that success would allow him
to take advantage of this equivalence, given its current level of
knowledge.

Processing of the application
 The method used to assess an application for recognition of equivalence is used
accurately and consistently. Any request for equivalence is first evaluated by the
Administrative Secretary for admission to practice. It ensures that the file is
complete before issuing the ID.
The complete file is then forwarded to the Committee for admission to practice
in order to determine the equivalence of diplomas and training, and to
prescribe the extra training required, if any. Applications are assessed three
times a year, in January, May and November. A copy of the decision is sent to
the applicant by registered or certified mail within 30 days of the date it is
made mail.
This response includes in particular the following:
 the decision
 the retraining imposed to obtain an equivalence, where appropriate
 the process for the review of the decision and the deadlines
 the process for the application for admission to the university and the
deadlines
Application for review
 If, following a request for recognition of a diploma or training for the practice
of pharmacy in Quebec, you are informed that the committee's decision of
admission to practice is not not recognize your associates or partially recognize,
you can request a review of your application by the review committee. You
must then submit a request for review using the form provided for this
purpose, application to be sent to the secretary of the Order within 30 days of
receipt of the decision. The review committee has a period of 60 days from the
date of receipt of the request for review to make a decision. Your complete
application is then submitted to the review committee for consideration.
 The Secretary shall inform you of the date of the meeting at which the review
committee will consider your request by sending you by registered or certified
mail at least 15 days advance notice to that effect. You can send written at any
time before the day representations provided for review of your application for
review.
 The resulting decision of the review committee is final. It will be sent in writing
by registered or certified mail within 30 days from the date of holding the
revision letter.
Mastery of the French language
 In addition to the requirements of Regulation standards for equivalence of diplomas and
training for the issuance of a pharmacist's permit, an applicant must meet the
requirements of Article 35 of the Charter of the French language to able to obtain a
license to practice.
 A person is deemed to have such knowledge if:
 she took a full-time, at least three years of teaching at the secondary or post-secondary
instruction provided in French;
 she passed the exams French mother tongue of the fourth or fifth year of high school;
 after the 1985-86 school year, she earned a certificate in Quebec high school.
 In other cases, a person must hold a certificate issued by the Quebec Office of the French
language or hold equivalent as defined by government regulation certificate. In this case,
the Directorate of admission and Development (DAP) will send the candidate to fill out
the form to complete its registration examination upon admission to the program of
refresher training. The completed form will be forwarded by the DAP in the Quebec
Office of the French language. The Board shall call the candidates for an examination
session to be held 4-5 months after receipt of the form.
The test takes about three hours. It has four parts: listening comprehension, writing,
reading and speaking. The passing score for each part of the examination is 60%.
Bridging program for foreign
pharmacists
 Since autumn 2011, a booster program for foreign-trained
pharmacists is offered at the University of Montreal, is the
qualification program in pharmacy. The number of people
per cohort is limited to 25.
On a 16-month bridging program (four quarters), aims to
provide, in French, the additional training required to hold
a degree acquired abroad so that they are able to provide
care pharmaceutical quality, to play a full role in the
Quebec health system, in collaboration with other
professionals, and to promote and ensure optimal use of
medicines to improve the quality of life of patients.

Managing the project: in the case of a decision not to recognize the equivalence of the degree or in the case of a partial recognition of the training, the CAP will inform the applicant in writing within 30 days of the curriculum, courses or examinations that success would allow him to take advantage of this equivalence, given its current level of knowledge.

  • 6. Processing of the application  The method used to assess an application for recognition of equivalence is used accurately and consistently. Any request for equivalence is first evaluated by the Administrative Secretary for admission to practice. It ensures that the file is complete before issuing the ID. The complete file is then forwarded to the Committee for admission to practice in order to determine the equivalence of diplomas and training, and to prescribe the extra training required, if any. Applications are assessed three times a year, in January, May and November. A copy of the decision is sent to the applicant by registered or certified mail within 30 days of the date it is made mail. This response includes in particular the following:  the decision  the retraining imposed to obtain an equivalence, where appropriate  the process for the review of the decision and the deadlines  the process for the application for admission to the university and the deadlines

Application for review  If, following a request for recognition of a diploma or training for the practice of pharmacy in Quebec, you are informed that the committee's decision of admission to practice is not not recognize your associates or partially recognize, you can request a review of your application by the review committee. You must then submit a request for review using the form provided for this purpose, application to be sent to the secretary of the Order within 30 days of receipt of the decision. The review committee has a period of 60 days from the date of receipt of the request for review to make a decision. Your complete application is then submitted to the review committee for consideration.  The Secretary shall inform you of the date of the meeting at which the review committee will consider your request by sending you by registered or certified mail at least 15 days advance notice to that effect. You can send written at any time before the day representations provided for review of your application for review.  The resulting decision of the review committee is final. It will be sent in writing by registered or certified mail within 30 days from the date of holding the revision letter.
  • 8. Mastery of the French language  In addition to the requirements of Regulation standards for equivalence of diplomas and training for the issuance of a pharmacist's permit, an applicant must meet the requirements of Article 35 of the Charter of the French language to able to obtain a license to practice.  A person is deemed to have such knowledge if:  she took a full-time, at least three years of teaching at the secondary or post-secondary instruction provided in French;  she passed the exams French mother tongue of the fourth or fifth year of high school;  after the 1985-86 school year, she earned a certificate in Quebec high school.  In other cases, a person must hold a certificate issued by the Quebec Office of the French language or hold equivalent as defined by government regulation certificate. In this case, the Directorate of admission and Development (DAP) will send the candidate to fill out the form to complete its registration examination upon admission to the program of refresher training. The completed form will be forwarded by the DAP in the Quebec Office of the French language. The Board shall call the candidates for an examination session to be held 4-5 months after receipt of the form. The test takes about three hours. It has four parts: listening comprehension, writing, reading and speaking. The passing score for each part of the examination is 60%.

Bridging program for foreign pharmacists  Since autumn 2011, a booster program for foreign-trained pharmacists is offered at the University of Montreal, is the qualification program in pharmacy. The number of people per cohort is limited to 25. On a 16-month bridging program (four quarters), aims to provide, in French, the additional training required to hold a degree acquired abroad so that they are able to provide care pharmaceutical quality, to play a full role in the Quebec health system, in collaboration with other professionals, and to promote and ensure optimal use of medicines to improve the quality of life of patients.
