This presentation will introduce you to using the Cite While You Write (CWYW) feature for EndNote X7 on PC.

1. An introduction to
EndNote
Cite While You Write
PC Edition

2. Cite While You Write allows you to add citations
and build a bibliography as you write in Word.

3. To get started, open a new or existing Word
document and your EndNote Library and
place your cursor where your citation should
appear.

4. Click on the EndNote X7 tab. This should have
been installed automatically when you
installed EndNote.

5. Under the EndNote X7 tab, click on the drop
down menu next to Style to select your citation
style.

6. Under the EndNote X7 tab, click on Insert
Citation.

7. Search for an item in your EndNote Library.

8. Choose what format you need for your in-text
citation. The default will display as (Author,
Year).

9. Your citation will appear in the text of your
document.

10. You can also select items to be cited directly
from your EndNote Library.

11. In your EndNote Library, choose the items to be
cited.
(Tip: Hold down Ctrl to select multiple items.)

12. Under the EndNote X7 tab in Word, choose
Insert Selected Citation.

13. Selected items will appear in your document.

14. Citations can also be edited.

15. To edit a citation, under the EndNote X7 tab,
click on Edit & Manage Citations.

16. Choose a citation and then edit the information as
needed. You can also edit information about the
reference in your EndNote library to make permanent
changes to that source.

17. Remember that you may still need to make
some formatting changes to your bibliography
to conform to your chosen citation style.

18. For example, for APA style, this references list
will need to be double-spaced.

19. Always double-check your citations against the
style guide for a given citation style.
