2. 1 The physical geography of Spain
Rivers:

Flow into the Mediterranean Sea:Ter, Llobregat, Ebro, Júcar, Turia and
Segura.
•
Flow in to the Atlantic Ocean: Miño, Duero, Tajo, Guadiana and
Guadalquivir.
• Flow into the Cantabrian Sea: Bidasoa, Nervión and Nalón.
Mountains:
•
In the center of the peninsula we find: Meseta, Sistema Central and
Montes de Toledo.
•
Bordering the Meseta we find: Sistema Ibérico, Cordillera
Cantábrica, Montes de León and Sierra Morena.
•
Outside the Meseta we find: Pyrenees, Macizo Galaico, Cordilleras
Costero Catalanas, Montes Vascos and Sistemas Béticos.

Natural Landscapes:
• Natural landscapes are areas that have not been transformed by human
activity. These landscapes are influence by factors such as geographical
relief, climate, vegetation and animal life.
Humanized Landscapes:
•
Humanized landscapes are areas that have been transformed by human
activity.
•
There are two main types of humanized landscape: Rural landscapes are
typical of countryside and Urban landscapes are typical of cities.

Decidious forest:

Oceanic climate in the north of Spain.
Mediterranean forest and scrubland:

Mediterranean climate in the Iberian Peninsula.
Alpine landscapes:

Higland areas in the Pyrenees, Cordillera Cantábrica and Sistemas
Béticos.
Diverse landscapes in the Canary Islands:
• Subtropical climate in the Canary Islands.
