1. SurveyMonkey is online
survey software. The free
version allows 10 questions of 100 users; the pro version
allows unlimited questions, unlimited users, and down-
loadable stats.

Research Uses
Research surveys and questionnaires.
Shorter surveys, well publicised, encourage a good re-
turn rate.
Setting Up an Account
Go to http://
www.surveymonkey.net/.
Select ‘Sign up Free’
Follow the simple instruc-
tions for signing up. Note
that you can use your Fa-
cebook or Google accounts to log in.
Create Your First Survey
Simply click on ‘Create Survey’
Choose a Survey Name that is clear,
and will attract people to complete it, and a category.
Note the options to copy a pre-existing/expert survey,
to which questions can be added/deleted.

2. Adding a Question
Look for ‘Add Question’, select ‘Add
Question’. A list of question types are
made available.

Think very carefully
whether each ques-
tion is necessary,
how you will phrase
it, and what you will
do with the data.
Adding a New Page
Questions should be sub-divided in-
to clear topics, with each topic on a
separate page. To introduce the
topic, select ’Edit Page Information’.
Publishing Your Survey
Once you have enough questions select ‘Collect Responses’.
The common collection style is ’Web Link’, for which the
URL can be customised & shared.
Analyse Your Survey
Select ‘Analyse Results’. The Pro version allows you to
download the data, in numerical and chart format.
