  2. 2. BACKGROUND • 9000-10000 OPD Patients/ day • Start queuing up since 3AM • Multiple Queues • Those who cannot be seen keep trying their luck every day
  3. 3. 2013 • No Appointments • Only registration for walk in patients • Registration process was computerized by NIC • ‘No need’ for an appointment system
  4. 4. NEED FOR AN APPOINTMENT SYSTEM • Patient does not have to stand in multiple queues • Can take a date convenient to him/her • Details of the doctor/ room/ location are available to him in advance

  6. 6. WISHLIST • Common appointment system across AIIMS • Should take into account the local policies of various departments • Highly configurable • Allow Auto-doctor select • Allow PA’ s to give appointment to specific doctors

  14. 14. FUTURE DIRECTIONS • Integration with Queue management system • Customised instructions to patient based on OPD/Clinic selected • SMS/ Email integration
  15. 15. ACHIEVEMENTS • We have succeeded in cutting the crowd outside the RAK OPD by half. • About 50 per cent of the total patients seen by a department are already through prior appointments.
