Facilitator chosen to lead nonprofit leadership and mgmt series
Dr. Lynn K. Jones, board certified coach, will lead the Sidney Lyons Leadership
Series
Dr. Lynn K. Jones will facilitate the Sidney Lyons Leadership Series scheduled for one Friday
each in June, July, and August at the Ventura County Community Foundation, 4001 Mission
Oaks Boulevard in Camarillo.
Sponsored by the Ventura County Community Foundation, the Sidney Lyons Leadership
Series is comprised of three interconnected learning modules, and participants will explore
management and leadership excellence in times of change, resource development, and
adaptive professional growth that leverages individual and team strengths. The modules
include:
Strength Based Leadership, Friday, June 19, 9 a.m. to noon, introduces the strengths
based approach to leadership. Participants will set goals and action plans for their own
leadership development.
Transformative Change, Friday, July 17, 9 a.m. to noon, addresses the skills necessary
for effective change management and will help participants understand how they can best
adapt and lead in a demanding environment. The Appreciative Inquiry approach will be
introduced and used to develop a vision for personal or organizational change.
Creating High Engagement for a New Future, Friday, Aug. 12, 9 a.m. to noon, explores
how creating a strength based culture can be leveraged to cultivate volunteers, donors, and
staff who are highly engaged.
In addition to her over 30 years of experience in the social service field, facilitator Dr. Jones
is a Board Certified Coach and consultant to nonprofits. On the faculty of the USC School of
Social Work Virtual Academic Center, Dr. Jones teaches and trains professionals in
Organizational Management, Nonprofit Management, and Leadership. She holds a doctorate
in Social Welfare and a master’s in Social Work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work,
Yeshiva University.
Ideally suited for leaders and emerging leaders from Ventura County nonprofit
organizations, the Sidney Lyons Leadership Series fee is $125 per person and $50 for each
additional person from the same organization. Other professionals, such as those seeking to
enter the nonprofit or managing change in their organizations, are also welcome to attend.
Participation in the leadership series requires a commitment to the entire program.
