We all strive for the perfect front door. It’s the first thing people see when they look at your house, and for you, it’s a portal to the outside world. What if, when you opened your door to the world, you found a hobbit or a fluffy blue monster? E-Hardware, supplier of door furniture including door handles and door knobs, is here with an infographic guide to our favourite fictional doors. Kicking off our list of fictional doors is the TARDIS. This iconic machine needs sturdy door furniture to withstand the rigours of time travel, so we’d recommend a pewter door knob. It would also look great against that rich blue paint. A door with an equally iconic colour scheme is the portal to 221b Baker Street. Sherlock Holmes’ front door has taken quite a battering, but that deep black paint and brass door furniture have lived to tell the tale. If you want to utilise some of Sherlock’s timeless style, we’d suggest choosing a brass door knob. On the other end of the style spectrum, we have the Flowery Door from Monsters, Inc. The pink, floral design is quite different to the two previous doors, but they both have similar brass door furniture. It’s also equally sturdy, having survived going through a shredder! We’re amazed that the door knob on this scary door managed to get through that ordeal, but thank goodness it did. One door that’s not really a door — but that we love regardless — is Platform 9 ¾ from Harry Potter. We think it could do with a clearer signal to new students, though, so maybe attaching a door handle would come in handy. If you want to recreate the iconic doors on this list, check out our huge range of door furniture at http://www.e-hardware.co.uk/. We have more door handles and door knobs than you could shake a wand at, so there’s bound to be something for you.
