2. Come November, London quite often turns into
a snowy winter wonderland that reminds you of
the Christmas Carol. But don’t let the snow fall
on your travel plans. Even if it’s snowy, there are
plenty of things to do in London. Here are the
favourites.
3. Freeze Festival 2013
Enjoy five days of music, snowboarding and skiing
action at London’s only mountainside. Head to
Clapham Common between 27th November 2013
1st December 2013 and watch UK’s biggest winter
sports event. The festival brings 500 tonnes of real
snow transforming the area into Narnia. Alpine
themed bars, street food vendors, live music, and a
lot more await your arrival.
4. You just can’t say you’ve done London without
having afternoon tea. And when the weather is
breezy and freezing, the pleasure doubles up. When
it’s 3pm in your watch, head to one of the
afternoon tea hideouts in London like Orangery at
Kensington Palace or National Gallery Café. Enjoy
delicious hot afternoon tea served in style with
scones, sandwiches, jams, tarts, and cupcakes.
5. Go to Greenwich Park and get tobogganing! The
hilly slopes of this royal park covered in snow
give the perfect layout to enjoy sledging. You’ll
enjoy the stunning snowy views covering Royal
Observatory and St Paul’s Cathedral. Slip the slope
at this hilltop heaven and relish hot drinks and
snacks available all around the park.
6. Call yourself lucky if you’ve booked a cosy hotel in London
like Montague on the Gardens, complete with a fireplace in
the lobby and a heated Cigar Terrace to smoke it up or
Chesterfield Mayfair, ready to delight you with hot
afternoon tea.
If you just don’t feel like going out, don’t worry. You don’t
have to spend the entire day snuggling in the blanket. Make
use of your hotel services! How about taking a refreshing
steam bath, a swim in the heated pool, or enjoying mulled
Hot wine at the hotel bar?
7. Keep the cold at bay and warm up at one of the
outdoor ice-rinks in London. Nothing is better
than twirling your skates on the ice with the
snow falling on you. So, lace up your skates and
head to Natural History Museum, Hyde Park, or
Tower of London to enjoy skating on the ice and
beat the winter blues. Also, combine skating
with sightseeing to complete your experience.
8. Snow and hot chocolate go together like tea and
cupcakes! Once you’re done with the action-packed
day, why not head to Trafalgar Square. It looks
magical during winters complete with a fountain,
giant blue cockerel, Nelson’s Column, and of course,
the annual Christmas tree. Take in the holiday
decorations and listen to the carollers whilst sipping
a nice cup of hot cocoa to keep you warm.
9. Running around cold doesn’t suit you? Why not
do the opposite and try the hottest curry in
London. Head to The Cinnamon Club and satiate
your culinary desires. The dish comes with a
disclaimer that it contains Nega Pepper, which is
almost 100 times hotter than normal jalapeno
pepper. This will keep you warm all day for sure.
10. No matter what’s the weather, London greets
tourists with some of the best attractions,
events, and activities. If you’re looking to plan a
winter holiday in London, don’t give it a second
thought.
